This week we will be focusing on getting our aircraft from Milford Sound to Pukaki, it's a short scenic flight and very easily navigated in a small aircraft like the Cessna 172.
Anyone can come and join in on these flights and we would be more than happy to have a few more people of any skill level.
Departure time: Thursday 16th October 2008 19:00
Flight time: 1.5 to 2hrs
Route:
- Leave Milford Sound (NZMF) to Glenorchy (NZGY) via Elfin Bay, perform t&g,
- From Glenorchy track via lake Wakapitu until at Queenstown then follow SH6 east to cromwell (Note: Cromwell Racecourse (NZCS) is not in the default scenery) from cromwell follow SH8 or the Clutha River south to Alexandra (NZLX) Perform t&g,
- Track to Wanaka (NZWF) from Alexandra via the Clutha River to the north east of Alexandra, perform t&g,
- From Wanaka follow Lake Wanaka to the north until you reach Minaret Bay, then turn heading in a north east direction direct to Pukaki (NZUK), be sure to fly over Lake Ohau, this will be your final stop.
However if you feel like you cannot follow specific landmarks to each waypoint you may track direct to each airport.
Late-comers: Late-comers or people not wanting to fly the whole route can join us from Queenstown (NZQN) at around 20:00
Voice Channel: General pilot-to-pilot voice chat during this will be available on rw1.vatpac.org/vatnzflightclub.
(Use the Private Voice Chat in SB or the Company Frequency feature in FSInn to tune this server.)
