Sunday Night Ops for 11th May 2008 - Cook Strait Invasion NZWN <--> NZWB <--> NZNS and vv



This Sunday our SNO (Sunday Night Operations) is concentrated on flying over the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands, it's our COOK STRAIT INVASION!

Due to the short routes and closeness of the airports, the challenge is there to our pilots to fill the skies and keep the controllers busy!

Real world routes are operated by Dash-8s and Beech 1900s, so it's time to get out your turboprops and head over the Cook Strait.

With such short sectors, how many can you get in during the evening?

And with Wellington being the only airport in the group with an ILS, it's the perfect night to practice the Non Precision Approach using this superb tutorial from VATNZ member Steve Hall.

Sounds very good. To be honest I'm very happy that finally we have shorter routes. I don't like to fly big birdies, the biggest plane I have is the Beech 1900D, so the was the reason I didn' joint to SNO's before. Too long routes for a turboprop. I see you in Blenheim on Sunday!
