The basic multiplayer set up is, on paper, the easiest, however as it's a peer to peer connection it has its own set of difficulties like port connection issues and needing to have the same planes installed.

Vatsim and Ivao appear complicated at first but you soon find that once it's set up you can connect very quickly.

I am currently flying Norfolk Isl to NZAA on Vatsim, it took about 10 mins to fire up FS, get connected, find the route and file a flight plan, start logging my flight and set up the FMC in FS Nav. If you fly VFR you can get into things even quicker.

Anyway, if anyone's interested I expect to be arriving in AA at about 10.30am. I'm hoping to beat a 777-300 ex Hong Kong to the apron.

I agree, VATSIM is very easy to get sorted.

I avoided the online networks but when I eventually gave it a go it was remarkably simple.

Just install a few things and when you have a vfr flight for example, you just have to click, at ivao, fill out a few boxes (like the flight plan) and then you're online :D you can get connected in under a minute if you're quick B)

Go and give it a try , You'll be pleased you did, I certainly was ;)

I'll go Helo flying with you anytime. After trying everything I could think of to get my router ports to co-operate(this has taken days) I finally rang ihug and they told me,if you bought your router during this time period (I had) then the factory settings are wrong and the settings in the manual are wrong too! The very helpful guy told me it would take 20-30 mins to go through it all with him directing me over the phone.I didn't have time at the time and am still to do this.I want to gte the same guy as he was good (not all of them are) and although I was pissed at having spent so long trying to sort it myself I knew it wasn't his fault and not to shoot the messanger(although I certainly felt like it) I'll get on to it and would love to have some company in Central Otago/Fiordland. God made it especially for Helo's, Nth Is flying is so 'vanilla' by comparison it's hard to believe they are the same country. Geologically the Sth is much older by millions of years.(the Maori legend is correct in that the Sth being the Waka then fished up the Nth. Have you tried that new modified H500 from HC with the cool sound pack-so real and what a machine, very touchy but that is what real ones are like.
