FS9 Multiplayer Mission

For everything about online flying around New Zealand

Postby Bandit » Tue Jun 12, 2007 9:27 am

The fishing vessel "Leaky Tub" was on a regular journey off the Southwest coast of New Zealand.

She has been reported as overdue.

Based at Bluff she regularly operates off the coasts of Fiordland and Stewart Island.

Over the previous week severe storms have lashed the area, so it is believed that her experienced crew have taken shelter in one of the many Fiords. This could explain the difficulties with radio transmissions.

A Helicopter crew based at Te Anau (NZTZ) has reported seeing smoke while they were operating to the west of the Manapouri aerodrome (NZMO). Being low on fuel they were unable to investigate further.

Search Controllers have set up a Base at Manapouri and have asked that this sighting be investigated.

Please report any sightings to Search Control.

Someone else I gave the scenario to for testing located it within 20mins. So you never know.

Since the vessel is based in Bluff it could be anywhere. But we don't want to make it too tough. So here you go Jimmy. I must have known what you'd want to fly when I wrote the Readme doc that's in the Mission file. :P

Weather = Your choice.
Aircraft = Your choice of any default. (Chance to get some snaps for this months Competition)
Time/Season = Your choice.

The actual Mission file will be posted here from around 2000hrs Friday. It includes a Readme doc with some hints.

Unless everyone has another preference the intended start time is 2030hrs. So no sneaky peeking.

This is going to be great, my sim is so awsome now this vfr stuff is going to be pleasureable! I remember when I couldn't fly VFR cos down at those altitudes I would be around cloud alot, but now in cloud I get up to 80fps!! :D

Any recomended scenerys we should get other than the landclass and mesh?

Nope, you should be all set and good to go. The Search Base at Manapouri and the other items are in the file that will be posted on the night.

The reason for getting the four EZ files is to provide the objects and the textures that I used to build the Mission. (Hope it works  , I'm learning things as I go)

Do remember though to cap your fps as per the pinned info at the top of the MP forum.

I know it can be a pain to have to download multiple files but they will be used again. Also the authors of the files stated they weren't to be decompiled to obtain the textures out of them.

Since you mention height. Hint for this mission. The missing vessel is at sea level

I have 95% finished building another mission. Which isn't a SAR one.

Just wondering, was it my computer that was causing that person (evil1 I think) to not be able to log on? I noticed that after I had left, he was connected. However, everyone else was able to connect with my computer

Anyway, a great event, and here are some screenshots:

Forgot to take any shots until I had found the missing vessel

Thanks for showing up and giving it a try guys.

Matt what mesh are you running? Do you have the Rivers and Lakes fix installed?
Not having it may be a possible cause of the grounding. Not sure.

Check out Mikes screenies in the Saturday Freeflight post. It shows the boat in the correct location. He uses the 75m. I use 20m.

I am using the 75m Mesh. The rivers and lakes fix is also installed, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
