I am not personally aware of any up-oming local fly-ins or events. Vatsim currently isn't as active in upcoming events like IVAO, however you will find controllers online most evenings, particularly on the weekend. Check ServInfo for who is on and where they are flying to and join in. There are often flights to and from Aussie and the Cook Islands.

The Vatpac Forums is a good place to start for keeping tabs on events.

Sorry to be a shameless self-promoter, but IVAO NZ has two events per month planned for the next two and a half months, and possibly more on top of that
