The Battleship , an Iowa Class travellin at 33 knots off the coast off Wellington , the abiltiy to deck land on moving ship has not beenan old idea , sure as heck fun compared to stationary decks ,user posted image

The Sea Knight , really suits .. heck one in the Naki , requires a helli log paint i guess  , but again super to land on a .. this time larger moving deck .. her 1806 crew still paintin here up , guess soon to be at the USECFORCE site .

Sounds like a lotta fun, must try.
It's actually easier to land that eggbeater on a moving target, no?

In some ways..... :)
Youll typically be above transitional lift speed so will have more power to play with, youll also be flying into wind (actual wind plus any forward speed 'wind') so the helo will be more stable..

On the other hand you are to unite two moving targets- a ship that is moving in 4 dimensions (Pitch, Roll, Yaw and vertical movement) and a helo that is moving in 4 dimensions.
You are also trying to do that while not crashing into the mass of masts etc that are surrounding you while trying to cope with turbulence created around the superstructure etc...

Flying helos off ships, in the real world at least, is very difficult and very dangerous.

Yes I'm always astounded by those pictures of RN Wasps that land on frigates in a North Sea hurricane.
Although the ship's 4 degrees of motion only translate to one from the pilot's point of view - up or down, ie chop the pitch into reverse when you meet the deck!
(I think the Wasp is the only heli that glues itself to the pad. The esteemed forum encyclopaedists will no doubt prove me wrong however)
