Sunday Night Ops
Blackcaps vs England: Dunedin and Wellington

The first cricket test between England and New Zealand is scheduled to finish today in Dunedin, and players and fans alike need transportation to Wellington in time for the second test later in the week.

Pilots should start at Wellington and fly to Dunedin to pick up a plane load of cricketers and their fans - Barmy or otherwise - and then return with them to Wellington.

The return trip should take approximately 2.5hrs in a B737 or similar. Latecomers or those in slower aircraft should simply fly the Dunedin to Wellington sector.

I flew the routes for this weekend's SNO tonight and it definitely does show off some of the best scenery in our airspace.

For the record, I did NZWN -> NZDN -> NZWN with the A320 in approximately 2hr 45m (including a half hour turn around in Dunedin), so if you're wanting to complete both legs with ATC on Sunday, you'll want to make sure you get underway before half eight.

The sim was set to around 1930 NZDT when I departed Dunedin, which resulted in a fantastic sunset as I tracked north through Canterbury, reaching Wellington just after dark. If I was doing it again, I'd probably try and depart by around 1845-1900 sim time.

Have posted a few pics on the original event forum post here.

Hope to see you online on Sunday night!
