Hey Guys,

Just thought I would pass on this message from the Flight Simulator X Diamondbacks....

QUOTE
As you may know, today Gamespy permanently terminated its' FSX multiplayer servers as of 11PM EST on December 5th, 2012. The Diamondbacks Team has become aware of this, and we can assure you that your longest lasting fictional demo team will still be up and operating as normal. We will continue to fly and host airshows, through different server hosting methods.

Keep your eyes peeled for further updates from your FSX Diamondbacks.

-Jacob "Snaps" Roy[/quote]

I have tried connecting and can confirm that it is no longer functioning, I have also tried LAN and that still seems to be operating as normal.

Let hope this is more the deal

At around 17:00 GMT on the 6th of December, the company which hosts Flight Simulator X Multiplayer sessions is down. We are currently unsure if this is the end of GameSpy, or if the service is just down for a few hours for maintenance. Multiplayer users won't be able to log in, and will just receive the message of 'Click to sign in.' which is situated in the far bottom left hand corner.

Not that I use Gamespy, but just curious to know what that means for those that do? Aren't there some games that require a person to have a Gamespy account?

I do a lot of multiplay flights through Digital Theme Park. Well worth a look if you are interested in meeting new people and flying with them. You can visit them on their TeamSpeak Channel and have a chat with Zoolander (nice chap)

Good to no the HU Tim .. was so easy to setup a MP .... many times you on the GP site for many thousands a day are going to be pisssed .. bit pathetic really simply to shut it down so obviously we have to look at a new set .. strange to say its old when so did use it regular .. the current is stream .. I mean STEAM and many complain about that rolleyes.gif ... VATSIM maybe ..

TIME TO REWRITE THE MULTIPLAY PAGES .. and the find a new user friendly jump in and drive MP setup smile.gif

Ian,

Yeah sucks doesn,t it,

With 1000s of online hours logged in our multiplayer group
(OZX Flying Club) with me having hosted 100s of sessions trouble free and
with good connections, needless to say....."je suis tres pissed off !!!"

We are testing the waters for direct connection via ISP address and if that
proves a problem may go to DTP or some other server setup.

will keep you guys in the loop

Cheers

TonyM

Never once have I used GameSpy in a few thousand hours of multiplayer work...
FSHost is the way to go, 2004/5 I think I started using it - Nice and simple and FREE, FSX and FS9 can run in the same session and you don't lose any AI functionality.

Get it here

On the few occasions I've had time to link up on an MP flight here with Ian and the other locals, I've used FSHost to connect.

I know old school now, but we use a FSINN server like Vatsim. Always on ready to use.
We are not asking people to Join the V.A. (Until you see how good we are....) But happy to have people join us online.
Especially on Friday Nights and Sunday Afternoons, which are our main online flight times.

Hey Wolf, so are you saying there's a way to use FSInn on a standalone server of your own? I didnt realise you could use it outside VATSIM too?

GameSpy Free Multiplayer Closed
Dec 07 2012 05:53 PM | Chuck_Jodry-VJPL in News

Management at Gamespy sent more than 800 developers who signed on as participants to use the company’s freely-available online services an email of their GameSpy Open program services being terminated on December 12th, 2012.

Gamers who have logged on to the free servers are already noting loss of service for many titles including FSX. Gamespy was recently sold to Glu Mobile, a company specialized in games for devices.

Developers are invited to discuss with GameSpy the possibility of entering into a Developer Publisher Agreement. Under this arrangement typically Developers pay an upfront license fee due upon signing and additional license fees during the term of the agreement.

There are a great many options for Multiplayer Gaming so it wasn’t as though a sudden loss of connectivity just disturbed "The Force" but an original element of FSX design was rendered part of history
