On the 22nd June, Queenstown Winterfestival 2012 begins. An estimated 60,000 people will descend on Queenstown for the event, and all these overseas and domestic visitors need to get there in time for the event.

Fly your aircraft from one of the other main centres into Queenstown to pick up your share of the inbound passengers and return them to your home base.

Sector lengths will vary depending on aircraft choice and the other centre you're flying from. Real-world Queenstown is served by B737/A320 and smaller; given the challenging RNAV/VORDME approach, it is recommended that you fly in an aircraft that you're comfortable with.

Events based around the mountainous Queenstown airspace are always popular and always a challenge for pilots and controllers alike and this event will be no exception.

Do you use payware types such as the CS737 or PMDG 73 or you have a independent fleet , also did have a TS3 channel for such events ? , and course what the boys who maybe totally new to VATNZ MPs .. me off course biggrin.gif

I guess its required to join VATNZ , did you have a direct link , i'm very proficient my 200 Classic CHCH-QN-WN .
One other thought is what scenery do you use VLC , NZSI or horrid default .

Hi Ian

Online on the VATSIM network - to reactivate your VATSIM account visit http://www.vatsim.net/about-vatsim/members/memberservice/

And there's a wide variety of scenery used, mixing both FS9 and FSX and of course a mixture of VLC and NZSI and some will only have default (god knows why when there is so much nice stuff out there!).

And any aircraft you're comfortable with.

Mark

Cheers, thanks Mark , - I navigated back and have replies to get me up and running - fair bit of reading and setting radio - tried setting up Squawk-box about the date i joined almost 10 ten years back since ive always Gamepspy and with TS for comm's on another PC , I'll have to play around your setup which also be handy FS9's to join spur of the moment type MP's .

I'll see how i go for the night . cool.gif

Good luck Ian, you're right there is a fair amount of setup to do but is well worth it.
FWIW .. I personally prefer FSInn over Squawkbox as it had a nasty habit of killing FSX for me. Instructions for FSinn follow...

Mark, I guess there are all sorts of privacy concerns about this but wouldnt it be great to record some ATC talk on an event like this so that new folks could get a feel for what goes on, and what they might be expected to do or say when under ATC guidance?
If its not appropriate to record it live, I'd be happy to help out as a pilot and record some staged voice traffic.

I did a little training with Nick Beatty of Christchurch air traffic control , teaching us radius's and approach , back he was training with Dunedin ATC in tower , is he with you guys or the name is not familar , but that was all off six years back .
