Resupply Mission - calling all Bush Pilots
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The nights are getting longer and we are already experiencing intermittent snow flurries.

Personnel from the Department of Twig and Tweet are situated at their various Outposts in the Southern Alps. They are conducting surveys on wild animal numbers. The Himilayan Thar is well suited to this extreme climate but human beings are not.

Essential supplies are starting to get low and the Field staff are getting grumpy.

T & T Head Office has contracted your company to deliver the food and equipment to the different Outposts.

Mount Cook(NZMC) airfield is being used as a central distribution point. Start from here.

Passing snowstorms are making some flying windows marginal. The altitude also makes calculating load weights very important. Due to the operational ceiling of some aircraft not all of your fleet is able to be used.

Lets hope your Operations Manager has made the right choice when he was handing out the assignments. These strips can be very tight.

You are required to make the rounds of the various camps finishing at the main Research Station(NZRS) strip. This strip has limited lighting - the Outposts have none.

You may use GPS and/or a map to navigate to each location. Use the alpine passes where they are available to get between each valley.

Outpost Co-ordinates -

Outpost 1(NZO1) - S43*52.40' , E169*57.93'
Outpost 2(NZO2) - S43*49.39' , E169*47.40'
Outpost 3(NZO3) - S43*43.64' , E169*56.45'
Outpost 4(NZO4) - S43*37.57' , E170*01.62'
NZ Research Station(NZRS) - S43*34.62' , E170*02.02'

The individual locations are listed under Southern Alps/New Zealand in the Sim menu.

A map has been included with the download file. Which will be posted later in the week.

The following 2 EZ Scenery libraries are required. If you did the SAR mission a couple of weeks back you should already have them.

Awsome, can you make a weather file to use too? Cos the real weather on the day might be really nice :P

This looks like fun, might have a bit of trouble geting into that summer outpost!

OK here ya go. Bit more info.

Start Time "“ 2000hrs

Aircraft - Start with any default type. I've done the mission using the Piper, Cessna and the Bell 206b. We can change to Add-ons later of course.

Season - Your choice but Winter is in keeping with the spirit of the mission.

Weather - Again your choice - but if you are not using RWW, I found Winter Wonderland made things interesting. You get a mix of clear skies and snow flurries.

General - It was hard work hauling the Cub up to the required height so the direct route may not always be the best way. Use the valleys and alpine passes (makes for fun VFR navigation practice).
There are landmarks that can be used to help with this; I may point them out on the night, then again I may not. Then we have a SAR mission for next week. I found it challenging trying to stop the Cessna's on the short strips. Guess that's why I'm a Rotorhead.

I suspect I may be busy with the Erickson Skycrane picking up bits of big aircraft. Yeah you know who you are. :P

The Mission file will be posted tomorrow.

Hope to see you there.

That was quite fun, outpost 4 is alot harder than it looks!

Sorry you guys had to suffer the pain of whatching a C130 continuisly go around. The wind was terrible, I just couldn't keep straight after the steep turn with a 13 knot wind, think it was cross wind too.. or may have been even cross/tail wind. I eventuly managed to touch down on the runway but then had to blast out again, damageing my landing gear on the hill just after the strip haha

mmm its always when ya being whatched that you can't do it ae, ah but if I were in my 763, then well :P

Yes Ian, you can get out your Erickson Skycrane now, Im missing right main and nose gear.

Looking forward to next week :D

Great evening, a lot of fun flying around in the Cessna. Shame the scenery wasn't displaying properly for me again, but I'm not too worried, it didn't really affect anything. I will try changing the level from 19 to 20, and seeing if that makes a difference.

I have plenty of pictures from the evening, which I will post in the screenshot forum shortly ;)

This mission was great!!! The Outposts were located in some really tricky places which made it challenging but fun to land (Especially Outpost 4).

My favourite would have to have been outpost 3 (the one on the ridge)

Cheers.......hope to see you guys on again.
