Well here another FSX movie i made today, the recorder module is alot of fun to say the least
Just for the record i make these movies in about 5 hours start to finish thats why they have little bits i could have done better in them .
my inspiration behind them is to promote flightsim /addons /fun flight and the things that can be done with FS ,and how easy it is to chuck something together for all to enjoy ..
the test today was the same as the last movie i made ,just trying to perfect capture and recorder module tricks
i used FRAPS to capture
sony vegas to edit
sorenson squeeze to compress to mpeg4 ,it was like a 1gig movie compressed to 33mb

this can also be done with windows movie maker default with your xp or vista install
anyway enjoy the movie ,this is what i got for my 55$ ticket for the hamz2008 show this year ... thanks to KEN ROSS :@ :@ :@ :@ we are lining up for our refunds

Yup i dont think they are that bad for a
intel 3.0ghz {ht}
2gig ram ddr2
sata2 harddrives
asus p5ld2 motherboard
geforce 8600gts g/card
and are running sp2 FSX stock with addons
i get anywhere from 10 to 120 flp s but most of the time around 20-35 just depends on what aircraft im using ,i capture with fraps at about the same but cant be as low as 15..

trying to run all those planes in formation in X is a big deal to me ,my good old pc runs them just like it did in FS9 ,this is why i have moved on to X
plus the scenery you see runs better in FSX than Fs9 ,this is also a big thing to me

Tip: i can always get smooth flps within the video file if i slow down the sim to 1/2x or at quarter speeds while recording ,then all i do is speed it up in editing " super smooth " ;)

anyway hope this helps answer your questions and alittle more :P

Love the radial DC3 engines rumbling past in that one, you got the ground spectator camera angles spot on as well- very realistic!

I take it those formations were "hand-made" with the original recorder module rather than the text converter?

Thanks, actually they were made with the text converter ,i thought id set them up right ,but they where a little off in the end but to much work to go back through ten files and play around again ..
i think it did the job in the end trying to capture the spectator view ,like you mentioned ..
i think ill have a little break from the movies while i finish some scenerys im doing ..

Liked it mate, think i will get that fraps and give it a go myself. Hope all is well with you. So as i imagine it you record the flight, use slew in fraps to get any position you want and record. Then use zoom and then shift + o and mouse to give that whole cameraman effect. Is that right? hope i make sense.

yeah you could do it like that but i used a tool call ez cam freeware from avsim i think ,plus i have a trackIR4 or the mouse to follow the aircraft from one spot ..
i recommend trying making one yourself as they are very rewarding and lots of fun to make, add the bonus of learning something new and youve got a fun day ahead ..

Another fun way to do it, if you have the FS Recorder module installed, is to create a custom tower view anywhere you like using the ALT menu, then do a low fast flyby fast the tower location, and watch it back from that view using instant reply (make sure manual panning is not selected).
