I mentioned earlier that I would have a look at how the Real NZ areas fit into the new VLC New Zealand.

This shows the lake end of the Wanaka scenery -- it begins outside the photo scenery, flies into it along the lake, and out again down the valley past Treble Cone (the winding road, sorry no snow here in the summer...)

The rest is all VLC to the Coast, just for the fun of it.

The blend is startlingly good in most places here, although bear in mind that the photo scenery is summer only, and the blend doesn't work so well in other seasons. It also highlights how well VLC matches a photographic representation of NZ.

There is a HD version on Youtube, so best to click through rather than watch it here.

Apologies if you've answered this already ... just looking at the river detail ... will VLC make Roads & Rivers redundant?

Any chance of getting a peak at less dramatic scenery using VLC?
I fly around Whangarei a fair bit (is where I started my PPL training way back when) and am wondering what VLC is going to do to to teh area. Right now with stock scenery is terribad and I have high hopes for VLC improving the area for me smile.gif
It seems particularly bad mid way area between west and east coast (say between Whangarei and Dargaville)

Yes.

I tend to concentrate on testing in the South Island, because that's what I know. I would really have no idea what I'm looking at up north, since I don't know what I'm meant to be seeing. Maybe one of the other testers who lives closer to you could take a look at this.
