Here's a question for all those who muck around with flight dynamics.

I have the Kittyhawk 737-800 for FS9 and it's nice enough to fly - and nice to look at. The big problem I have with it is it won't steer on the ground. I could taxi at any speed from one to 100 knots and the nosewheel makes no effect on the direction I'm going.

I've tried adjusting the steering angle in the .cfg file and moved the contact point back and forth to see if that makes a difference but no joy. Does anyone know what I should adjust to change the way this aircraft handles?

Im no expert but you could try backing up the cfg that you are making the changes with and try copying parts of lines from another aircrafts CFg of the same size etc ... i do this type of thing alot just to see if that will make a difference ,,,sometimes it works ok and other times no change or not the change i was looking for but worth the try anyway because im learning something ..

not that helpful i know ,but there will be someone out here that will know something more im sure thumbup1.gif

Ps i mean only the lines ie like steering etc not the hold CFG info from another AC but im sure you understood that what i mean ...

Im guessing you mightn't have turned nose wheel steering on?

Larger aircraft have the ability to lock out the steering on the nose wheel for takeoff/landing so that the aircraft is more stable (i.e. the rudder will be used to steer) Once under a certain speed, the nose wheel steering is un-locked to allow slow speed steering.....so perhaps have a look for a key combination or something on the panel for Nose Wheel steering

How is your controller set, in some cases your controller has to use the rudder to steer on the ground, ensure that the FS settings allow this and are maped to your rudder keys.

I thought I would place my question here as I have a very similar problem with the alphasim constellation. It turns, but it needs a soccer course to turn around. I want to make it able to turn back on narrow runways. It must be something in that aircraft.cfg.

If you are using FS9 then for most aircraft the F11 and F12 keys usually work as steering brakes

I've got it for you!!!

Just found it myself, could be useful for anywone who struggles with a plane, with huuuuge turning radius:

You can make a simple edit of the aircraft.cfg file. Just open it in Notepad (double click it) and find the
[contact_points] section. On the first line (which starts point.0=...) you will see many numbers after the equals
sign. The 8th number is usually around 47 to 52 - this is the Steering Angle. Change this to 70.00 and the plane
will turn much sharper, allowing you to make those "terminal turns" arriving at the gate.

Ooops. I just realized you have done this already....I'm still happy! I fixed my own problem at least smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif
