I have the old old CH yoke which is starting to show its age - the springs don't return the yoke to center (Not that it was very good at doing that anyway) and as a result its near on impossible to get it trimmed out straight and level for hands off flying. I was considering upgrading to the Saitek yoke as its got a metal shaft rather than the cheap plastic stuff CH uses (Despite the comment about "New and Imporved Industrial Grade Material" - way to spell check CH). I have never seen a real-life yoke with that much cr@p mounted on it........ as for the Formula 1 style paddles........ WTH over!?!? With other products on the market you would think they'd try and improve the product, rather than stick buttons all over it to try and impress Joe Pilot!

I don't own one, but have used one - I still don't like the fact the throttle/prop/mixture levers sit in front of the yoke. A very awkward position and I don't know any plane that has them situated like this.
The Saitek set is far better in this regard as the levers are separate

Edit: pre Deanes plus more , starters seems Mr Fraser and myself have really used the yoke to the MAX! .. the years CH have produced the yoke and pedal , good accent history now , and even a quik fix
with the bondie ... i'd be scared to count the actual hours spent using , it dont have the bad spring return and center prob , mmm maybe i could run a CH-YOKE repair bizness , ohh dont forget the pedals , these did brake early .. more Cents than brains i went and purchased another set .. im still happy , heck and found the original order , from the US was $687NZ in August 2001 , compare today,s pricing . A metal shaft , well todays plastic is very durable ..its how the controller is connected to the shaft .. plastic/metal no difference in price ..or little ..thats a gimmick for selling .... extra buttons .. .. more working parts .. more can break down .. Consertrate on your screen and not whats in your hand .
I would like the chance to compare the Saitek unit since the release of there recent hardware , engine start -lighting and general controls with there throttle system .. i wonder what the fix and service is like .

Heh... thats what i initially thought too.. but I think by 2 'flipper' buttons, they mean the little grey buttons on the front face of the main unit... I am sure the black "F1 style paddles" looking things are part of the clamping system...

actually... now that I read it again... I think they're rudder's!?!?!?
