Found a neat summary of home flight simulation , and it shows just how far it has come. I cannot say that I would like to try to load FSX from cassette tapes!!!

have a look at the pictures and see just how much it has progressed. 1982 Microsoft releases FS1 (not to be confused with FSX!)

Nice find, very cool. The above pic is the very first version of the Sim that I got to play on an original IBM XT PC back in the 80's. I was really excited to be able to do a instrumentation flight and VOR landing, in fact it was almost easier to fly the radials and watch the dials than look at the crappy rendering of the runway

I think I came in slightly after that............I remember asking my "guru" brother in law for advice before buying my first computer.

He told me that 4 megabyte was huge and that it would last me for a lifetime....!
