Not sure weather this has been asked before, but does anyone know how to calculate fuel for a specific flight, or a tool that does it for you.

Thanks

Nick

Find out how many Kgs per hour the aircraft burns then go from there. Search on Google..

Ok what about reserves, how many hours extra? 1 hour?

Thanks for quick reply

Does 6,000kgs/hour sound about right for b767? Only article I could find.

For the reserves, I believe it is enough to reach your alternate, plus 30mins (or 1 hour?) extra.

Well assuming you have a flight plan:

you'd select your aircraft, click on "Nav Log" and get some flight details:

This one is for an A380.
A SIA 260 would tend to use a little less fuel, but may need a stop or two:

You might repeat the exercise for your divert airport, plus 30 min reserve.
Quick calc for the Airbus above shows 6,000gph so add 3,000gals.

Sorry Charl, but you cant trust the FS9 Fuel Planner.. :P

Yes, It depends on your alternate. I normally carry around 1 hour extra fuel..

I usually just chuck in what seems a good amount, I usually just fly regional routes so it's not so much of a biggie for me. For example, in the Beech I just chuck in 35-40%. :P

Yes I'd heard it wasn't too reliable, but hey, it's a flightsim:

Top up tank
<Unpause>
Land as if nothing happened, just make sure no-one was watching the middle bit...

Who Plans fuel in a B1900D anyway :P

Answer from a B1900D captain (RW) when asked about how much fuel they had on board: "Oh plenty, no worries about that!". :P

Or even better guys :D
Nick, search "FUEL" in the "FS2004 Utilities" category ONLY at avsim. You'll get a fuel planner for just about anything you want to fly.

Thanks for you replies, I did download a fuel calculator for the 737NG for free, which looks all very fine, and am testing it out now on the ML - PH route.
So will see if it is accurate or not in about 4 hours

If you are using the PMDG, they have a fuel planner on their site for their 737 range and it works well :)

It's somehow never been an issue in the sim for me, as I said I cheat if I messed it up.
I do remember some discussion way back about the accuracy of FS fuel calculations.
Does anyone know how inaccurate, and if it's consistently inaccurate or depends on distance or aircraft type?

Yes thanks for that link, already had D/L though.
I think it might have worked properly, if only I had have told it to compensate for 100 knot headwinds!?! (this is the info the FMC was giving me anyway) Is this correct? 90-100 knot headwinds the whole way and 10-15 knot crosswinds. BTW I had real world weather on (YMML-YPPH)
