i am suprized well not really but to see so many nz flyers using red baron and realnz combos ,this is a big thing really,
as how many other countrys around the flightsim world all have the same scenery to fly around not many they are all using different stuff
new zealand on the other hand are using the same two great setups thanks to the many good designers here in nz doing there part to make wonderful things happen down here in godzone
multiplayer down this way must be wicked !!(as still havent got of my butt and done anything about it )but many of us enjoy this and having the same landmass under us is what makes it all the better to fly down under
just like with what voz have put in to making there scenery for oz for all to fly around same thing its happening here but in a very different way (better i think)
its just great to see all of you into the same things and it does make a huge differance having both of these scenerys plus ++and the many more out there for new zealand
whats your thoughts?
do you use these setups, does it make the differance when it comes to your flying experance :rolleyes:

have you got them on your wishlist ?
i myself think the best thing is landing here or there and seeing the same things out your vc as the next person

Yes,....it does make a VERY BIG difference to my flights around NZ since installing Mesh and Topo. Once youve got it, you will wonder how you ever done without it and how you managed to put up with MSs crap look to NZ for so long. You really recognise the areas below you when you are flying, particularly if you have flown over them in real life. Yes, we are lucky to have some of the worlds most talented scenery people here in NZ, doing a beautiful job of showing the FS World what it like to live and fly in Paradise.

Yes we are lucky to have committed developers, would be even better if it was free, like VOZ though (nudge nudge).

One thing about multiplayer though is that you only see what you have installed, so if a fellow pilot doesn't have any mesh apart from the default the country will look like a slow rolling hill-land, even if to you it ooks all craggy and georgeous.

yeah that is a probelm with scenery and muliti player but realnz scenery from robin is on the cheap side of sim addons and many nz simmers will or are going to get the scenery addons
the great addons that we have to pay for are at the top of there game and for the work they put into it is long and costly sometimes ,i payed out for buses the other day $6 (not incluing the camera that i brought as well ) just to go out and take some photos amazing that these designers go to wanaka etc.. im happy to pay for them but it would be nice to get some of the older stuff as freeware ,
but i know we got to keep them feed to keep on making them ..so...

I agree,It's the only payware I've ever bought new,paying top dollar and I reckon it's worth every penny.I've told Christian Stock in his thread he is truly a great man as he has literally done more for this country than anyone in history I can think of! That's a pretty big statement is'nt it?but who amongst 'us' will disagree?

This is an interesting topic to me, I always like to get some opinions on the freeware/payware debate:)
The most important thing is that I do this for a living. There is simply no other way that I can put in the time required. At the moment I'm not making a living from it. This week I earned about $150, which doesn't go far for a guy with 3 kids to support. So I guess the important thing is that I do it because it's something I have to try, despite the fact that at the moment I'm struggling to live from it.
Ok, I could still just do freeware, but it wouldn't be the same. I could release Wellington without ever going there. Of course it wouldn't be photoreal, or accurate, or complete, so there wouldn't really be much point in doing it, would there?
Working full time gives me the time and resources to do the job properly. I've just got back today from visiting Wellington. This was my itinerary:
Wed, NZCH to NZWN via Origin Pacific, took about 300 photos at NZWN. (This was in addition to 500 photos I took there last month.)
Wed night, drove to Paraparaumu, stayed the night.
Thurs morning, photographed Paraparaumu airport, drove back to Wellington in the afternoon.
Friday, slept in:), took a helicopter flight over the city to photograph the buildings and waterfront. Great flight, for anyone in Wellington I'd recommend AV8 if you want to see the city from their Hughes 500. Be prepared to pay $1200 + GST per hour. This was my second flight, the first one was last month photographing the airport.
Friday afternoon returned the hire car and flew home to NZCH.
I've probably spent about $1800 on travel and accommodation for the Wellington project. That needs about 90 sales to cover the cost. I'll be lucky if I get 90 sales within New Zealand, but I may get more from overseas.

I did have a fun few days, though.

So this is what I suggest for those who don't normally buy payware. Go to my Store and buy either Tauranga or Rotorua as a $15 download. That's about the price of lunch at the mall -- a plate of curry, a coffee and a Wendy's megachocshake. That's a well-balanced lunch...

Try it out for a while, and then decide if this is somethng you can spend money on now and then. If not, it's only cost you $15.

We are all into realism us simmers and it does not get any more real than your scenery.I'm glad you made this post so we all know what it takes to get to use your excellent products and telling it like it is. I would like to urge our members if possible to make posts like the following.

thanx codge what a great idea for all im sure if i was down that way i would be right in to that ...id get the drinks and pizza lol :lol:

nah but really those other designers out there who have been out there making all the candy for all of us for years now ,are the ones that really need the support of all of us,,,, freeware is good but the payware has what we need, all the bells and whistle this is because they are there day in day out doing this for us so we can just go to work and buy it on the way home and enjoy the flight

Back in December after the release of VOZ I posted this in the kiwiflightsim yahoo forum and surprise surprise got no response

Its funny I have been using since Christmas Eve this great aussie addon
and I cant believe you guys never heard about AVSIMs server going to a
complete crawl because of it? Much as the same effect PMDG had a few
months ago.

As there are a lot of Aussie registered members one can only assume
that the reason it was not acknowledge was due to its price tag and the
fact it transformed the Australian region well in advance to what we
have been used to.

Even leaving the region VOZ south (soon to be South East) installed
it transforms New Zealand buildings to something more like you would
find rather than the corn towers, Barns and building of the USA.

Reason I did not respond to Paul is because I already knew about it
but also in another breath did not recognise it as being relevant to
Kiwi Flightsimming.

Unlike Robin Corns recent release of Rotorua, which then comes down
to that fence again which causes friction due to the seeming reluctance
of developers in our little isles to be able to join forces and
accomplich what John Koorby has done.

Maybe this will be a tetchy subject that will probably get some
remarks but deep down we all know that its true that the talant is in New
Zealand to do what VOZ did for Australia.

Before I get flamed just point out to you I subscribed to Robins
Scenery, I use Christians Topo scenery and I still feel that NZ still is
missing a few things or they are being kept to a small group of
developers and friends. There are several projects being worked on most never
seem to come out when they are planned or are incomplete despite
pleadges to finish them.

I understand sort of the difficuties getting the raw dat but some of
the sceneries look pretty dumb in the Winter months to have photo real
summer textures. Thats not a dig at anyone in particular because they
have a life outside Flight Simming however more cooperation between
developers might see these projects completed.

Like I also stated in the VOZ forum if the Freeware is good and the
author demonstrates there commitment to the hobby then I dont mind
paying a resonable price.

It can be done just needs someone who can carry that baton! Or am I
just dreaming?

Taken someone new to the Simming experiance to get things to join up and go for that goal then again he was a big supporter of VOZ as well

Keep the egos out the way and how big could it grow? Looking at some of the posts of late its started to happen at last.

Free is good,I like free stuff as much as anyone.SO,why did we buy flightsim.Microsoft provided us with a baseboard,which to start with, we all accepted.I would bet that when most of us saw how Microsoft depicted our country we were perhaps just a tad angry,I know I was.So Then A few great guys decided to improve the local colour,not only just the colour but also went that few steps further and made things a little more accurate.If we all want to continue to get this high quality Then lets all get behind them and support them so that we can continue to enjoy our flightsimming experience.After all I don't think that they are asking too much for the work that they are producing.It's worth every cent.My old faithful, ZK-AWP and me enjoy what we see beneath us.Green beats brown anytime.I wish I had that sort of talent.

VOZ Aussie BRILLIANT! .. LOVE IT!!!

Hi Guys,
I,ve been having a little trouble with water textures and was wondering if any of you had had the same problem.they seem to change colour about 10 mins into the sim,from a very light blue,then to a darker blue.The darker blue seems to be the correct colour.I,m using an Athlon 2.4gig computer with a ATI Radeon 9250 128meg video card.all settings are turned up.Fps between 18-25.frames looked at 25fps.all other textures remain normal,it's just the water that changes.Anyone got any ideas.

Neil , idea that may help , what water textures are u using if any , I seen simular after reinstalling FS , scenery areas that had large ocean areas flicked and changed colour untill installed a water texture package .
