A small but vocal group saw me coming from a MS sim base as some kind of cash-grab, and for a while I was bombarded with messages threatening to destroy my business. At the time, it seemed like a good reason to quit any XP development, and I suspect that nothing has changed in the last few years.

I still don't understand this at all. I've never seen the XP community attack someone like that. Sometimes I see people go onto the XP forums saying that the sim is rubbish and MSFS is so much better and they get to hammered quickly but I've never seen nor heard of a situation like you describe.

That is shocking, it would only be to their benefit to get top quality offerings

Really, I wasn't at all sure what or who was behind this, and these days, knowing what 'social media' can serve up, I may not react the same way, but at the time I still remembered vividly the crazy happenings which emanated out of Australia. That was really just one person, I think, or more precisely one family, but the threats were real enough. So running away the second time seemed like the best solution.
Crazies will be crazy, and I don't really have the patience anymore.
However, after a few years on Twitter, I know that crazy is usually just a background noise that can safely be tuned out.

OMG...that Australian incident brings back memories!

...re Tauranga...if you change you mind I have free accommodation here (also i can arrange airside access)...but i can fully understand why you want to keep the airport modeled close by to where you live.

I cruised by the Marketplace earlier, and it is now installed.
Interestingly, it appears as a Mandatory Upgrade.
Didn't get to take a look, because as a happy bonus, all the NZ sceneries are being offered at reduced prices!
Soon my PC will bulge with all things NZ.

Update has broken the sim for me. I go to change the weight and balance before starting the flight and the sim CTDs. Oh well, I should be doing other things anyway. Good luck everybody.

I’m unsure if it was necessary however I uninstalled the ORBX mesh before I installed the NZ update. Not sure if it’s related but now my ground textures around NZQN flicker and some hills appear to look more like pyramids, solid triangles. The terrain doesn’t look as well defined either and I have floating buildings in places.

The live weather issue with NZMF still isn’t resolved, with snow on the airfield in summer….

Hopefully these issues can be ironed out. In the meantime I’ll keep looking around.

It would be nice to see an accurate tree and vegetation mod for NZ. Something that we still lack after the update. Wellington still has patches of lime green hills and trees which still look unrealistic
