are there separate stars for heavy arrivals like 747 and 380 as standard ils approaches final turns seem too tight. I live in Rolleston and see the Emerates 380 daily turning on final approach which looks further out than domestic jets. ?

Airline jockeys will be able to answer better than I can but my understanding is that larger aircraft will tend to fly the full STAR whereas smaller aircraft will go visual and fly a shorter published or non published approach. There are also different STARS for the same runway so the smaller stuff will get vectored onto the shorter approaches. Probably completely wrong but that's how I always understood it... I don't even use the circuit most of the time.... :wink2:

Arrivals from the west and South into CHC will go via STARS that finish at IDUBU which is just south of Rolleston. Arrivals from the North will end up at ALBAD which is between Rolly and Templeton.

You’ll also notice Virgin, Qantas 737’s and Airnz, Jetstar A320’s doing similar approaches.

I think Emerates may use DOPKI3A as their last waypoint is KABIN . I watch it turn and it straightens up over Rolleston for approach to NZCH 02

Probably not as that's more suited for the arrivals from ZQN.

Their routing today was DCT CAWLY M636 PLUGA N750 BOKED/N0474F390 N750 SULON/N0474F390 N750
This gives a final waypoint on N750 of VANDA which is a transition point of the BELEE 5A (http://aip.net.nz/pdf/NZCH_33.1_33.2.pdf)

great , yes that worked fine ,VANDA-BELEE nice ILS landing CHCH 02 Xplane 747-400, but Xplane 747 doesnt work with navigraph upgrades so have to manually input waypoints.
