Wow, that is awesome.

I went inside the Lancaster at IWM Duxford last week. They are letting people go aboard as a trial and it has been hugely popular. One of the volunteers said they were getting five hundred people through a day!

You only get a few minutes in there and then only in the rear compartment, but get a good view of the rear turret (and toilet) plus can see up into the top turret and (just about) through to the cockpit instruments and entrance to the bomb aimer's station. This is backed up with a very informative talk and tour of the externals on the Lancaster. They've even got some ordinance there, including an original bouncing bomb.

All in all, very good. I also got to go aboard Concorde 101 and a DH.106 Comet 4A! The volunteer showing people around the Comet had inspected that very same aircraft on the production line at Hatfield. As you can imagine, we got on rather well!
