Godzone subscription coming to an end...

Normally I post Godzone-related things in the Godzone sub-forum, or the Screenshot forum, but I'll try this here as there are still a few members who have only just now 'discovered' the subscription, a month before the year is up.

Case in point -- one member who wasn't aware that his 'home town' was included in the Subscription, so was very happy to take advantage of the 40% off for NZFF members.

Just some extra points which have arisen lately:

  • Although I'll stop selling the Subscription 30th June, there are some more Issues to come, and maybe some extras, depending on a few as-yet unresolved things -- mainly to do with my job-hunting, and lack of job-getting...
  • For those who would have problems downloading the currently-10GB of scenery, I have offered a service where subscribers can send me a 16GB flash drive, together with return postage, and I'll put the Subscription files on it for no extra charge. So if you want to think ahead, you could buy the Subscription now, with the NZFF discount, and send me a flash drive when all the photoscenery is complete -- in 3 or 4 months. You still get to take advantage of the Subscription scenery, but don't need to worry about downloading.
  • Although I do plan to package up all the photoscenery into individual areas, this may take a while -- the first area will likely be next year.
  • I know my future plans for the subscription (and beyond) are a bit vague, but the worst-case may still apply -- I shut down Godzone and go on the dole. I do have a list of things I'd love to include in the Subscription, but it still might not work out that way, so I'm keeping them under wraps for the time-being.
  • There are still 600-odd NZFF members who don't have a subscription!

Remember you can ask me anything, if you are still unsure of what the Subscription is, then just ask. For details of the NZFF discount offer, click on my signature... (You need to be logged in to get the discount code.)

Sorry about that, seems that my flash calendar app didn't repeat all the manual installment reminders. I woulda been better off with a Postit on my monitor...

Rob is it worth getting "into bed" with a publishing house?
Unfortunately marketing is so "important" these days and outside of NZ Godzone doesn't have a high profile (in the advertising sense anyway).

Really, I'm quite happy to sell my own scenery, although I normally have it on SimMarket as well, which works out very well with the European market, mainly Germany, and I do also have some on one of the Australian stores.

The secret is just to have something to sell, and by 'something', I really mean airports. I love photoscenery, but not everyone does, so airports make a lot more sense if you want to make some money. The Subscription was only ever a last-ditch attempt to fund some airport development. In a way, I was asking local simmers to fund the future of Godzone, but it was always going to be a long-shot.

So since I didn't get enough income to fund the development of an airport or two to get things started, I'll try plan B -- get a proper job, and work away on my free time until I have a saleable product. That's why I won't be selling any more subscriptions -- at the moment the money which trickles in is just a nuisance, not enough to live on, so it would make more sense to have zero income and go on the dole, while I find a job.

Don't get me wrong, I will still make scenery, and I have a lot of things planned -- the subscription may eventually include at least 6, maybe more custom airports, plus I have been working on a secret scenery which hopefully will be a 'gift' to subscribers later this year -- a regional airport, a nearby airfield, and even a... oops, nearly gave it away. It will be on a high quality, medium sized photoscenery, just because I can't help myself, and it may well be on sale to non-subscribers sometime this year.

At the moment I'm pushing Subscription sales simply so that everyone gets a good chance of deciding if it is a good idea, the last thing I want is people -- especially NZFF members -- suddenly deciding that they should have a subscription long after sales have ceased.

Those who have decided against a subscription may be more likely to buy the 6 or 7 airports at $38 each, which could mean about $250 for me eventually, as opposed to $99 (or less for NZFF members) now.

I drop recommendations for your scenery around the place if I see someone that flies in NZ...

When they subscription ends consider dropping the subscription name. I feel people might associate it with an ongoing payment process.
In fact this was seen on airdaliyx. Although you cleared things up in the comments not everyone reads those, and they give you an idea of how people think.

Sorry it didn't do what you needed it to do...

The reason I haven't got a subscription is because I don't have a machine to play MSFS on! :givein:
