Hi Folks,

We have three of each of these joysticks left at special pricing,

The Thrustmaster T1600M, my personal fave and a real bargain at $20 off the RRP, $79.99

The Thrustmaster USB, a great entry level joystick, again a real bargain at $10 off the RRP, only $29.99!

The Saitek Pro Flight Yoke is also much cheaper these days, RRP of $349 and now only $259!

Finally I wanted to share with you these amazing systems built in Nelson by a company called SIMPIT, a 180 degree wrap around screen powered by 2 projectors, now under $4000!
http://www.flightsimshop.co.nz/collecti ... 1183669549

The SIMPITs can be sold as screen only, with a DIY frame, or with the complete kit and installed easily in your spare room or garage. I have flown one and have to say the visual and audio immersion is amazing for the price. Add a motion platform or buttkicker and you have an amazing simulator experience.

Cheers all,

Paul

Yeah they truly are amazing. Great that its a Kiwi startup business too. He's a helicopter pilot who has put a lot of thought and money into designing a screen with excellent contrast level, and warping\blending software to make it look good. He's also making "ejector" seats and hardware cockpit surrounds for maximum immersion.

Check out the full range here http://simpit.co.nz/

I guess has all the know into "ejection seats" , I've tried for years to get my hands on the real McCoy , got close , least with my mindset engineering and knowledge, model build skill , I should build a PC seat version myself , may not be a bad idea.

I think Sales show the drop all over the spectrum .. old days I was the first in .. gay (GA) planes not so much .. but the rest I was ready to have and spend to have a looksie .. aircraft .. this is one area I stood away from.

Even in the early years of Flight Simulation mid years , 1996-1998 , I thought of moving into aircraft build but always looked out , Adrian and Iain Brausch had already done the Supreme P3 , this was were I thought I'd hook into scenery ... from there ... the rest is History ! B-)

I dunno ... a helicopter pilot with knowledge of ejector seats sounds downright dangerous to me! :P

Not sure about that , most helicopter pilots are a cut above the rest or so they say.

I've had hands on a heli a couple of times IRL; hovering really fries the brain! I had the three primary controls (not engine) on my first flight and concentration levels were through the roof! Got a video of that somewhere.
Utmost respect for heli pilots - I wanted to be one from very early age, but numerous things kept me out of any cockpit, let alone a heli. Still love 'em though. I wish I could fly them in the sim, but I find the complete lack of peripheral vision and 'seat-of-the=pants' a big inhibitor to heli flight, so I tend to stick with GA since I fly fixed wing IRL anyway. I still jump in a sim heli from time to time, most recently the little Mosquito ultralight :-)

It was a tongue-in-cheek comment, btw... for reasons I had hoped were obvious ... :D

I think one of the lucky things was having a good chat to Nick aka 'Choppernut' and his findings and comparing Simulation to the real deal, one evening up at Doug's place in Blenheim, there was the regional NZFF family and we had a great chin wag , Deane Baunton gave us further insight flying an Huey and the pressure involved with the pedals with the tail rotor and how heavy it was.

Tom's simpits go a long way to making up for the deficiencies in the sim. I went and flew one of his prototypes in his lounge and it's pretty good. The lack of feeling is the real issue now that even high tech sims still struggle with. I taught Tomas to fly btw.... small world isn't it
