A recent discussion over at SOH prompted this little survey out of my own curiosity.
There's a small discussion over there about aircraft addon complexity. There's a handful that are "Ctrl-E" (autostart) types that can't seem to stand doing any more than a button press to be ready-to-fly, while there are others who absolutely love the button-hitting, switch-flipping atmosphere.

So, which way does the crowd here lean to? Do you prefer aircraft addons where you can use an autostart feature to just get up and go, or do you like more complex addons that require a bit of systems prep to get flying? Perhaps somewhere in the middle?

For me generally somewhere in between. I like the systems to be well modeled in the sense that there shouldn't be any switches or items in the cockpit that are just for show and don't actually do anything, but I tend to avoid aircraft which are going to require the better part of an hour just to get ready for takeoff simply because I don't generally have enough time for that! Hence why I tend to stick to GA aeroplanes; the systems can be detailed but it doesn't take too long to get things up and running. Not to mention I have enough different aeroplanes to try and remember procedures for in real life without introducing flightsim ones as well!

I'd always go for the entire system start-up tho have the Ctrl+e for the lazy buggers winkyy.gif

Both/All/None - I'm a bit mixed up!

I like the complexity for smaller aircraft but sometimes just want to get up and fly so would like the Ctrl-E option available for those times.

Every single button - but it also works with <Ctrl> - E!

I think we need "it depends on the plane" as an option.

I have at least one plane which calls for a click on the prop, to hand-start it.
I have a couple with Kauffman cartridge start, loading and firing from within the cockpit.
I have some which don't have a main ignition switch, or maybe a fuel pump switch, and I can't be bothered always starting in the default flight to turn those things on again.
I also have the many Jahn Team propliners and other CalClassic models, plus the Aerosoft PBY, and I feel really smug when I get them started, by remembering all the procedures.
I have some jets and turboprops too, which usually reduce me to reading the instructions, as they are very rarely used.

On my CH Quad, the rightmost switch is mapped (in FSUIPC) like this:
UP: Ignition off, repeat while held. I use this for WW I machines, where you briefly turn off the ignition to control landing speed.
Centre: Magnetos Both
Down: Ctrl+E
and that pretty much covers every eventuality. smile.gif

If the kids go to bed at 8pm, I'll use a "all the buttons, levers and switches" type of plane
If the kids go to bed at 10pm, I'll use a crtl+e type plane laugh.gif
