Hi to all. I am new to this forum and very new to FSX. I have been using FS9 since it was released. One of the things I liked was Fsnav. A very user friendly program. Searching the forum and the net it would seem that this app will not work in FSX. FSC seems to be the alternative, but appears to be quite complicated by comparison. I would welcome any advice or direction please.

Cheers, Craig (nz401)

Welcome to NZFF Craig , there is no version of FSnav for FSX , there was another autopilot type program or similar call FSX Navigation .

Was a recent posting here that may help http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18278

Good alternative to FS Nav.

Two versions:

v2.0.5 contains Google Satellite, etc, moving map and Nav aids, showing your Aircraft, and AI...and local Multiplayer Pilots! (Search the Forum for the version).

v3.0 (Latest) similar, but does not contain the Google maps! (Licence restrictions).

Both work in FS 2004 and FSX

Ta, Ian...

An excellent (free) program for all those unfortunate enough not to own FS Nav... tongue.gif ...and even all those who do!... thumbup1.gif ...!

Personally, I prefer Version 2.0.5 with its Google Satellite and Terrain maps. (it will require a Forum search to locate it... winkyy.gif ...).

I run the Sims in "Windowed Mode" to gain quick access to both the Sim, and Plan-G during flight, in the Task Bar... biggrin.gif ...!

Excellent for exploring the scenery/terrain at low level!

Thanks guys. This gives me lots ov stuff to look at. I was so reliant on Fsnav that I didn't even take time to learn the on board systems.. big sigh.. rolleyes.gif

You will get more enjoyment out of learning the aircraft's nav systems in my opinion than using FSNav, Plan-G etc...
I do occassionally use Plan-G when I am touring around and want to get a bit of an insight into the area I am flying around in, but otherwise, I try to use the aircraft's nav systems and find that more exciting (when it all works out right) smile.gif

As a keen, daily, Multiplayer, since FS 2000/FS 2002/FS 2004, I have always found FS Nav invaluable for displaying not only my own aircraft, but all the other Pilot's aircraft in the Session...anywhere in the World!

Indeed, I am often in a position to assist them with positions, headings, distances, ICAO Codes, and all Nav/Beacon radio frequencies, with all the required data displayed on my FS Nav "Radar" screen!

Its a bit of a cheat....but its fun...and the other Pilots are often very grateful for the assistance..(I am known as "God"!).... santa_cool.gif ...!

G-Plan version 2.0.5 will perform in a "similar?" manner, within a restricted Aircraft range, (around 100 miles radius). Multiplayer Pilots are displayed as AI Aircraft, and identified.

Without my FS Nav I fear I would have abandoned the MS Flight Sims many years ago and taken up Fly Fishing instead!... laugh.gif ...!

(FS Nav also gets me firmly glued to my FS 2004, instead of my FSX!).

The best invention since Sliced Bread, for Flight Simmers!... clapping.gif ...!

Fozzer, you have it in one. I don't know why Fsnav went belly up. I think that Ian has it though, I must get a bit serious about international and IFR flying and do it the hard way.. angry.gif I will still keep Fs9 on the hard drive for those moments when I just want to have fun biggrin.gif Regs Craig...

Cheers Craig... cool.gif ...!

FS Nav: I think the designer got a little bit fed-up with all the "bitching" that often goes on, on such a Site, (the Plan-G site suffers in the same way), that the designer finally lost patience, and decided not to support it any longer after FS 2004, or port it over to FSX.....so everyone lost out!... sad.gif ...!

What's all this; "Serious", and doing things the; "Hard way".... pirate.gif ...!
"Pretending to fly Aeroplanes" is supposed to be fun!... laugh.gif ...!

...and perish the thought of removing FS 2004 from your Hard Drive!... blink.gif ...!

My copy of FS Nav is safely stored in Fort Knox...trust me!
