Hello Everyone,

Im Simon, 33 from the UK and a massive FSX fan (sounds like a dating profile haha). I only tend to fly in ORBX areas (or equivelent) and for me that means OZ and now NZ. Ive come across some great payware from Godzone which i will be buying, i was just wondering if there is any nice scenery for Christchurch Intl? Im sure that area will be chaning a hell of a lot after Feb 2011's quake.

This seems like a great community, cant wait to become a part of it.

Simon

Hi ya Simon , you might want to ask Mr Godzone himself , Rob is tinkering away with a Christchurch Intl , the airport survived the mister wobbly's quiet well .. so it should have ohmy.gif It was in the middle of a complete terminal and area reconstruction , this is what it a little difficult no now what we have till close to the finish , if you like to send me a PM - I can package up CHCH photoreal area and send a link for you to download , still work in progress in regard to the AGNs but now starting to take shape .

One item you may want to look at is the ORBX NZSI as were looking at using that as the base for further scenery , free and payware , also ideally suit for the many South Island freeware posted on the Flightsim.com site , FS-Creations.org . cool.gif

Hi Simon! A BIG welcome from me as well!!! It's always nice when new members "announce" themselves. You'll find many very knowledgeable people here at NZFF, many crazy ones, many talented ones ... but they're *all* friendly winkyy.gif

Which part of the UK are you in? I'm originally from Gloucestershire.

As to scenery ... I appear to have the whole Godzone set. You can't go wrong with that! However ... if you have any pocket money left over, VLC is a must these days ... and ORBX NZSI (which does a vaguely "passable" NZCH).

The landscape/topography in NZ is so varied (and photogenic) that I hardly ever venture out. I did buy a few ORBX Ozzie airports, but can't seem to drag myself over the Tasman ...

Thanks very much for the warm Welcome chaps, i feel when you sign up to a community it is only polite to say hello, especially if you are asking for assitance in some way.

Ian - I already own NZSI and the whole of AU, Its the only way i fly smile.gif I'll deffo PM you though, sounds very interesting what you are putting together, I wont bug Rob though, i know devs work hard and show something when they are ready to show, dont need some one they dont know bugging them about their project. Rob's Nelson area looks spectacular, i will buy that over the weekend i am sure.

Adamski - Im from Blackburn in Lancashire, so a true northerner! I have an affinity with AU and NZ as my wife's parents are from Brisbane and I also have family in Masterton, although i have never gotten over there to see them yet sad.gif

I shall check out VLC it looks very nice indeed. I also have some 3d experience in blender, 3dsmax and Autocad, so i might get involved in some scenery development in NZ, I feel its my spiritual home biggrin.gif

Oooh dear. The major part of my life was spent down south, but my formative years (up to my late teens) were in Chapeltown/Leeds, so I'm afraid to say that makes us *sworn enemies* laugh.gif. I'll never lose my "northern" attitudes (or my "northern" sense of humour) so I suppose we just bury the hatchet and join forces against those posh snobs down south laugh.gif.

Apologies to everyone. If you're not 100% clear what I'm wittering on about, Google "Wars of the Roses" winkyy.gif laugh.gif

I should be neutral in this dispute (West Midlands/Staffordshire border) but as I lived in York for 3 years at university, I fear the onslaught from the wrong side of the Pennines.... ohmy.gif

Seriously, welcome Simon! This is a great friendly and helpful community. You'll find a few of us from the UK on here. NZ simming is the marriage for me of two of my greatest loves, aviation and New Zealand. I spend a month each year in NZ, visiting friends and touring. Over the last 11 years, I've been over 7 times, with an 8th in the planning. I'm so well travelled in NZ I'm almost considered a local. You should definitely try to get over for a visit to your family. There's a great airshow (Wings Over Wairarapa) based in Masterton and Wellington and the aviation museum at Omaka would also be in easy reach.

Take care, happy landings.

Very possibly Ian. It would certainly be on my itinerary, in fact I intended to come back last year but the quake aftermath put paid to that. I didn't want to see Christchurch in that condition. As it turned out, the change of plan was just as well as I flew into Blenheim as that polar storm was hitting back in August and all flights to Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown were cancelled! I think I was in the only part of the South Island to have brilliant sun and no sign of snow all the way through that.

It would be great to catch up with some of you fellows down there. I haven't been to the museum at Wigram yet. We could have a jolly boys' outing!

Hopefully if plans come together I'll be back over throughout August. I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,

Ade

I went to a couple of meets in Holland (for Su27 Flanker). A short hop over from the UK (in those days). Amazingly, people came from as far away as Canada and Israel!!! They weren't *huge* events (as meets go), but incredibly friendly - and great fun. It was a much smaller "community" in those days.
