Now that i have become (so far, so good) smoke free. i seem to have a little more cash on hand ( $13.00 a DAY! ohmy.gif ) so, Im going shopping. smile.gif
There is so much out there , so i have pin pionted a couple that really appeal to my taste and ability (in other words, slow and easy to handle).

I like the look of the AERA 51 C-5, and F-6F hellcat from Vertigo.....and the 185 from Carenado. Yes, I know its like compareing apples with lemons, but i want a "heavy" a warbird and a run about. Please advise regarding choice.
I have the Alpha C-5...but.... dry.gif

Just to finish, i was just reading on the Helicosim site (www.fsheli.ch) that my much loved Lama won best paywhere heli in their recent awards........any of you have that ?.....great little chopper....BK?? ,CHOPPER NUT??

Sorry about the smoking gif , the heli Lama is ok ,has a good sound set , cerabell 212 / 412 is higher in detail and prob better on flps than the likes of that lama ,the 185 or any of Carenado range are very good models and detailed VC , most of the warbirds out there are pretty good ,the justflight spitfire to me is the best all rounder ,if you have the c5 from alpha you mite want to wait on the VC or buy the one you list ..
I get aircraft on what im wanting or have seen in the realworld ,helicopters are mostly my addiction but all models for the sim seem to have there downs falls and and are really good in others ways etc + -

Thanks for the advise....i might have another look around, and i will check out the spitfire. And like you , i love the rotors, but limited by the sim dynamics.

Helicopter Total Realism (HTR) is a program that overrides FSX FS9 flight model with a more realistic model.

All the helicopter reactions are calculated using formulas taken from different aerodynamic books. Every helicopter can be configured using a .cfg file similar to the aircraft.cfg but with custom parameters used by the application to model the physics profile.

I have included a full manual with samples on how to create your own configurations.

Data is passed to and from FS using FSUIPC, so it works on FSX and FS9.


The included helicopters in this release are
-Bell 206
-Robinson R22
- Agusta Westland EH 101
- Aerospatiale AS 350 Ecureuil

I am currently working on a release for:
- Robinson R44

(I plan to update this list as more releases come out...)



I have also included the excellent Helicopter Flight Training Manual from the Canadian Dept of transportation which in my opinion is the best free manual on helicopter operations.

For WW2 fighters I would have a look at the A2A P-47 Thunderbolt (dont have it but the reviews are very good) and the Realair Spitfire - although the reviews on the Hellcat are pretty good too (flightsim.com have a review out for it today). Carenado's 185 looks very good and is one aircraft I will be getting when my FS PC is back working.

My favourite A/C in FSX are the freeware Tiger Moth, Sibwings Bird Dog and the Lotus L-39

Sorry yes Realair spit ,also ive just had a go of the HTR addon for dynamics ,i can confirm now i can hardly fly a chopper in FSX ,i tryed it with one of his pre programed helis AS350 nemeth and wow i crashed of take of 5 times and managed to get use to the new handling i did land it but not where i was aiming for ,i think this is as real as it gets ,i reckon you try it

Ian, Ive got that CH-53.....But i can hardly get the thing started......folowed all the steps. Must just be me....I'll try again soon, thanks for reminding me.

Well another one i could have helped with , there is no cheat mode in starting that one up , its brilliant , idea would be a shared cockpit multiplay .

Naki, Creator......i put the 185 and the RA Spitfire on the plastic today......worth every dollor, thanks for the advise.I will hold off on the heavy for a while, but will let you know.

don't get Ian started on his ch-53 otherwise you'll have him trying to land it outside your house!

As Mike aka Creator said the cera 412 and 212 are excillent aircraft. I myself only have the 412 at this stage/

If you want a good helicopter the best one that you can get in my opinion is the dodosim Bell 206 - www.dodosim.com
This is the most realistic helicopter there is on flightsim, but it is quite pricey. They are also doing a huey which I can't wait for!

BK.....thanks for the advise (Ian, there are too many powerlines around here) I will check out the Cera Bells, and the DoDosim 206....yeah, that Huey they are doing looks nice.
I still really love my Lama smile.gif(In an aviation kind of way) dry.gif but it seems to get a luke warm reception here....oh well.

Have you tryed the HTR addon for dynamics from Hovercontrol ,it dodos every helicopter ,,ive been playing around all day building a cfg file 4 the bk117 ,though just as you get it right something else comes up as a problem ,ive just lost all left pedal and are spinning like hell ,
here is some of the things it now does in FSX with this addon quote from manual

Autorotations
You can test autorotations by switching off the engine or setting an engine failure. For helicopters with a twist grip you can also reduce power. Try to keep rotor rpm within the 90% to 110% by using collective and helicopter attitude. The easy way to enter an autorotation is to fly at about 60 knots and start a slow descent. As you see rotor RPM increase above 100%, switch off the engine and autorotate to the ground trying to keep rotor RPM and speed by using cyclic and collective, once close to the ground, flare and land.

Vortex ring state:
If you descend too vertically and too fast you might enter a vortex ring state, a very dangerous situation where you will quickly lose altitude and experience severe yawing and pitching moments. Vortex ring state is a very dangerous situation especially when you are about to land as it will increase your vertical speed abruptly. If you enter a vortex ring state at higher altitudes you will most likely enter a vertical autorotation or exit from it by flying forward.

Blowback and Transverse flow effect:
Blowback or flapback is the tendency of the main rotor to flap back in a direction opposite to motion as velocity increases. Transverse flow happens mostly at speeds below 15 knots, ad will roll the rotor to the right on counterclockwise helicopters such as the Bell. Both are implemented and can be tuned in configuration files.

Retreating blade stall
Retreating blade stall is implemented and varies with weight and altitude. At ground level ISO standard conditions and maximum gross weight it will occur at VNE, at higher altitudes it will occur much earlier (as low as 60 Mph for the Default Bell 206 at 12.000 feet) . Current VNE can be seen in the last line of the Air Data Tab.

Ground effect
Is implemented for ground altitudes below 100 feet, and decreases progressively as you climb. You can experience it by taking of lightly and see you helicopter float up and down on the air cushion or by checking the forces on the flight data window.[/quote]


you should let the guys know at westpac Auckland they where looking for this type of thing for there sim at one stage ..

its for fs9 and fsx

Have you taken a look at the Captain Sim C-130, 727, 767 and 757? I've got the C-130, 767 and 727 and love them all.

PMDG 747 is also a must have IMO thumbup1.gif

.....odd you should say that, i was just looking at their (CS) site.I do have the C130 and 707, but have to re-activate them as they got uninstalled(both are great)....the 75/76 look good too.Not much into the C-17, but i wish they would hurry up and release the Islander.(Alphasim)
Jeezz, you guys are going to bankrupt me....i took your advise (as well as creator, naki etc) and bought the Carenado sennaca (30USD) but a good buy.

BB, do you know if anyone is doing a nice Cessna 421 for FSX or 2004?

Flight 1 is making a 421B for FSX (not sure on release date) and they already have a 421C for FS2002 (it was one of my first payware add ons) and it was updated for FS9 - was real nice in it's day but showing its age now.
