I just downloaded and listened to this podcast, and omg what a load of ignorant American drivel (bar the interview with you Dan, good to hear an knowledgeable kiwi accent on the airwaves).

I don't usually like to comment things like this, but that guy really got to me. That was some pretty disrespectful uninformed stuff he said about the downed Air France A340 for which he couldn't even recall the slight number, calling you an Aussie, and particularly the first half of the show where he was just talking about himself dry.gif What a waste of 80mb!

Hi Dan,

I listened to the interview and I noticed that you mentioned the window-cutting-issue in gmax. There is a very clean and easy solution for that! Use the Compound object - "Boolean" function BUT don't mess around with "intersection" or "Subtraction". Choose "cut" instead with the option "Refine" checked. Doing that, your polys will be cut along the intersection of the two objects, generating a new edge. After that, you just have to "detach" or delete the polys inside the shape.

Disadvantages:
- Sometimes there is an edge missing, but that's not a big deal.
- Sometimes this method generate "degenerated polys" (usually long spikes), but it's easy to get rid of them.

This method can also lead to some problems, but I think it is more reliable than the "subtraction" mode. Give it a try!

talking about flightsim radio, I was just listening to the Rock and they had a 'closet geek' confession bit....some guy rang up and said he played FSX (anyone here?) so I rang up as well and mentioned that I designed scenery for flightsim haha....won some stuff too. Mean.

They reckoned they Flightsim was awesome so I don't feel too bad haha

I was so racked today .. stuff work! Flightsim radio maybe ... i must have wound the neighbour's VOLLLLLLUME to handle it !

I use many methods to cut, this is probably the most common method but still is a very flawed process depending on the detail of the cut you need.

I had a bad night sleep last night and ended up listening to you Dan the man and what you had to say about alot of things ,really liked your views and enjoyed the segment ,those guys are a laugh and a half and i will listen to more as i find time ,i didnt find it a waste at all of mb and it can only get better over time with more interviews etc ...

thanks for the link Dan and your contrubution to the sim world ....

thanks mate, yeh they are a laugh and hard cases.. They like to express thier own point of views but also respect those of others.

Like the casual nature of their podcasts, nice lightweight and entertaining conversations, cool to get you on there Dan "representing" smile.gif but way too much distracting off-topic stuff in some of their other podcasts. Been listening to the FSBreak podcasts lately, their production values seem higher and the content more substantial. What other sim related podcasts are there out there?
