Real World Weather for P3D?

A place to converse about the general aspects of flight simulation in New Zealand

Postby ScottyB » Mon Dec 08, 2014 8:35 am

Hi there,

I am looking for a decent Real World Weather Program to use with P3D v2.4. I am a bit tired of having to look at current weather and customise it all manually. What are the best weather engines?

Cheers

There is a free full option trial available as well. 7 days I think. Has good integration with the iFly wx radar too.
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

I am also an ASN user.
I used to use Opus, but then when I needed to buy again for further support I made the switch to ASN.
Both have their good points. Not sure which I prefer, to be honest.
ASN is 'nicer' in the interface.

So is Active Sky Next simply a wather generating program? Ie: to get the "best" look it'd be wise to use my current REX 4 in conjunction with ASN to get the "textures" from REX 4 + the actual weather systems from ASN? Or does ASN have textures too?

ASN for weather and REX4 for textures.

As far as I know, ASN uses textures you have already and doesn't provide any; just the weather.
I use ASN in conjunction with REX4.
