Using VATSIM for online flying FSX - how?

Hi guys

Have been out of the online flying for sometime but would like to dabble again ... i have read some threads but am a tad confused as to what to download and setup for FSX ...

Would someone be so kind as to advise what is the recommended software now to use and especially for NZ flying?
