I drew the line at folding the photo etch hinges for the gear doors today  Not much in the way of visible progress on the Lightning today, painting the gear doors and touching up parts of the fuselage. I did add the PE dogbone links to the gear legs.

Cool model. If you changed the rego to PAT the weathering would be quite accurate :D Thank you Sir , the proper build will be PAT . Will try to get some close-up detail shots of all her bits beforehand.

Hello! My Chummy, Chum, Chums! It's still Winter Time here, in the Land of the Ancient Britons...(and Anglo-Saxons)... But that doesn't prevent me from riding my trusty motorcycle steed, almost every day...(when it's not raining!). They are mostly short local trips at the moment, as I wait for the weather to get warmer before I venture into longer journeys... So, to keep you all up-to-date, here are my recent ventures as I forage for lots of good things to eat and drink... ..with lots of; "Home Cooking" involved!.... .... ...! Enjoy...as much as I do!... :D...

AKL and area members. Oh my goodness, it's hard to imagine what your going through. I really hope you are all ok Hang in there ...easy to say, but I do mean it. Thanks for your thoughts Marty :) Feel what we're experiencing here in AKL is somewhat akin to what we've all (most northerners at least) seen happen to CHC and the South (meteorologically) over several decades past .... and not to ignore the impact those significant, and prolonged, earthquakes had upon CHC several years back too and which is something else yet again. One of the beauties of this country/NZ though is most of us team up...

Charl, "DO they have redeeming features??" not that I can find, other than interesting to watch. The little one is actually "The Southern green stink bug (Nezara viridula) is one of the most important pentatomid pest species. It is believed to have originated in Ethiopia but is now distributed throughout almost all tropical and sub-tropical areas, and it continues to spread also in temperate areas where it is mainly found in greenhouses. Thanks for the reply, always interesting to know about other points of view. Reinforces the notion that wars really do represent the total abandonment of reason. I'll use those links on a disposable computer somewhere :) We'll close the discussion there, this is a flightsim forum after all, not a political arena!

Mark, sorry for the delay...great post thank you. The guy at Draw Decals and Hannants have a stock of the Minicraft DC-8s, some of which are heading my way now. I did manage to pick up a part-built version of the old Revell/Lodela kit, with the correct ANZ engines included. Thanks again for the detailed post.

Thanks for that HU Robin, will search the programme out. (Just as an aside: I'm currently re-reading "Ecotopia - The Notebooks & Reports of William Weston", Ernest Callenbach, (1975), the forefather of ecological utopias and a book which heavily influenced the 1970s counter-culture ... yeah, I admit it, I'm a faded hippie!). A great lookin' diaroma too. :)

So good aye Marty - I been following his vids for awhile, top notch quality, really nice angles and panning and framing, like watching a film vs lots of the sketchy spotters vids there are about I have PANC from Aerosoft and I think this year I might actually treat myself to a big ticket item from PMDG with my xmas bonus, either the 747 or the 777, prolly the latter, and do some flying from PANC to Asia and North America. Cant wait :xmas:

Thanks "DEEKNOW" .... glad you enjoyed the presentation :) One of my (many) pet passions in regard to civil aviation .... is researching airline and airframe history (and which has also the very foundations of my civil aviation photography over the past 43 years too) .... and then using FS to represent it. I find such makes one's FS indulgence "all the more more rewarding" .... virtual though it may always be, but (in my case at least), still all based around "fact" per the re-enactment of historic R/W operations. Talk about down the rabbit hole.... I clicked on the link when I first saw this, but my speaker battery had died. However Youtube today served up a Mix based on this song, and I haven't been able to quit it. Second song was Jefferson Airplane White Rabbit, a favourite of mine, but plenty of MoonSun, the original posted group. That woman looks so much like my step-daughter but can sing a lot better:)

Great stuff Rob, and pleased to hear that in this case it is a "batteries ARE included" sorta deal :D I've also had a decent health system experience up here in the Waikato lately, broke my femur falling off a scooter and landing badly two weeks ago, was in the Ortho ward at Waikato for 4 nights until stable enough to wobble home on crutches. The care I received was excellent, calm and swift ambulance crew, surgeons you could actually communicate with, polite and efficient nursing staff, and great support so far from ACC to get my life back on track. Sometimes our taxes are actually...
