Great pics Naki! It sure looks like a very busy event down there in Wanaka, and I would love to go one year. I think it is particually neat how they have commerical aircraft there along with the private ones (ANZ and Vincent Air in the background). That's something you don't see at the NZAR shows now is it! Speaking of this- does anyone know when the next Ardmore display is planned for?

Not surprising really with the delays and then the corruption with top executives helping themselves to millions, still a pity nonetheless, must have been quite something for a company like FedEx to go with Airbus over Boeing, I suppose to have some of each is prudent in case one type gets grounded for one reason or another.

One additional famous appearance of a pack occurred on the opening of the summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984. The pack was piloted by both Bill Suitor and Gordon Yaeger. Suitor, a legendary personality (in all calculation more than 1200 flights †more than in any other pilot to this day). Bill took off from platforms, flew above many spectators, who from the unexpected contingency covered their heads with their hands, and landed opposite the presidential platform, where sat Ronald Reagan. This flight was seen by 100,000 spectators on the platforms and about 2.5 billion television...

What a find Mike! Absolutely brilliant, can you imagine the stress level as the seconds counted down...I had sweaty palms just watching it. I imagine the dude with the headband committed seppuku immediately after filming... And wasn't it great that the Yank didn't just fly by and do it with the rotor tip? Big sport.

We flared, and the runway seemed far wider than Nelson (it probably is though). so NSN won't get the A380 then :P great story. i haven't been in a cockpit since i was about 8 or 9. no doubt they're impossible to get into these days with all the hijacking fears (at least the jets i usually fly on). Nah, I reckon Nelson'll have to stick with the Dash for the meantime. I think I was allowed only in the cockpit because the copilot knewmy instructor... the hostess said otherwise it would've been only a quick visit. I really was amazed at how high-tech the Dash-8 was. Glass...

Probably not much help though, think Peter Lohr is still working on a Milford airport for FS too.
