The RAF is shut between 5pm Friday and 9am Monday, so it's rather lucky that the Bad Guys never invade on (say) a Saturday morning...!

Yes this was a performance over Wellington Harbour in March 2004, I can't remember the reason but I have a vague recollection of some anniversary or something. I was lucky to catch them myself.

never heard of them - there is no listing for air2there in Doc 8585 - the official ICAO book - Designators for Aircraft Operating Agencies, Aeronautical Authorities and Airservices. does someone else charter for them or do they have another name they go under for the actual flying side as opposed to the advertising/sales side of things? apart from that - try ringing them cheers I think your onto it her Towerguy, I took a quick look and think they operate 'air2there' as a public brand, the operations are run by an established operator, the question is who? The plot thickens... :ph43r:

This was discussed within a yahoo group I am not a member of Pprune. I thought Pprune was for proffesional pilots? Being a gamer I avoid the confusion that simulators create seen that happen all to often when reality clashes with fantasy. Try this: Now back to the subject... I read on Xtra this morning that "CAA spokesman Bill Sommer told NZPA that Island Air Charters previously had its operating certificate suspended briefly in November and last week performed two "precautionary landings"." Now I wouldn't want to fly with them unless I was...

It's spectacular... but very dangerous and bad for aviation. Read this thread , especially this post: Ughhh, Thats how we end up with this.... The clips in the middle show what the guy got up to before this tragedy. The video shows a B52 crash, caused by the development of this sort of low flying. This type of aviation should be kept to Simming (and hercs :P )

I have just been watching a program on History Channel called BoneYard it covered all sorts of ships/aircraft/rockets being dismantled or re-constructed it was intersting when they covered the Army/Air Force/Navy ect ect was good but then came the civil airliners being modified into all maner of new configs and it showed the B747-400 being used as a water tanker the guys flying made it look easy if any of you have a chance to catch it do watch it because it is really good its about 2 hours long. heres a link I found to the airbase where they do the millitary aircraft work its called AMARC....

Will get the wife to check it out as she works downtown, saw it Thursday and it had trainer written on the side, no wings and also missing the tail section, but the tail section was capped off and connected to something externally (aircon, power source??) Was planning on stopping but traffic was murder and really wanted to get home.

i heard that being a pilot with these new aircraft is one of the easiest jobs in the world- turn up, takes off, run the thing on autopilot, then lands (using autopilot if he really wants) then again, i'm glad (as a passenger) that only the best pilots survive. ...and then you have a total electrical failure half way across the Pacific Ocean. :)

I've seriously thought about it before. But, I've tried those stupid brain strainer questions the ATC website links to and just can't do them. Not smart enough for ATC I guess. I left school 12 years ago, so haven't done any complicated maths since then.. I guess that's something you could do a refresher course on prior to applying? As much as I think I could be good at controlling aircraft in a 3d space, understand radio communications, and can fly an aircraft into or out of any NZ airport, those questions put me right off :( I'm sure it's a very cool...

Remember your camera! Exactly what I was going to say- it's the first thing that pops into my head whenever I hear of someone going on a plane journey ;) I myself will be travelling to Oz in January, and there will be photographs of my flight on NZFF when I return, guaranteed!

Heh. They always show this sexy shot of two-tone kid hide pilot seats. This makes passengers feel sexy too, knowing that up front are pilots who insisted on Nothing But the Best. It's like the pics of early concept 747's (and 380's latterly), with turbocharged spa pools of champagne on the upper decks together with dance halls and Au Pair girls. Airliners are of course sold on the golf course, to bean counter people who fly corporate charter. ANZ took a huge gamble by getting in early and thus got 'em cheap.
