I'm flying a Tecnam P2002, as seen in my avatar. Doesn't slow down very easily. I've found though that with more flap I don't float as much. thats the extra drag washing the speed off... the best demonstration I had of this was doing flapless landings... NZPM is like 1800 metres long, with full flap and good airspeed control on finals for 25 you can pull a cherokee up before the first taxiway (whiskey, which is something like 100m from the threshold). flapless and with little wind, you'll be lucky to be on the ground before x-ray, which is about 500m from the threshold....

Wow, lucky guy. The guys at FlEx make it really easy, although yes, it does help to have a bit of experience in the NG. :) Alex

That first video really is amazing by the way- how many feey AGL do you rekon that was? By the way, I found a still of the Harrier hovering above the water at Eastbourne, yet it was taken at the 2004 airshow, and a bit further out to sea from the time I was there:

that livery has to to remain on the a/c for 2 years, so once that times up then all A320s will be in ANZ livery. i'd put $5 on freedom air ending at that time too. with zeal320, freedom air is so close to Air NZ that they'll cease to exist within a few years.

my brother was an aircraft mechanic in 75 sqdn... before they disbanded they were taking all the ground crew for joyrides (now thats something i'm happy to have my tax payers dollars spent on ;) ) up at a nice safe altitude as in like 15000'+... nice lady says to him "Ok, lets have some fun, you have control and when i say, push the stick all the way to the left... but whatever you do, dont nudge the stick forward, otherwise we'll end up in spin and will start falling out of the sky mmmKay?" So he's like... "sweet as..." On cue, he pushs the stick to the...

Nice one, it's been around a while but always gives a giggle! I am sure I read somewhere that Qantas planes have crashed, perhaps not with loss of lives, but they have had accidents.

The music was Jason Donovan- Any Dream Will Do from the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat (1991). When I was a toddler I was attempting to learn how my Dad's stereo worked and ended up shoving this tape into the cassette slot and hit the play button... quite happy with my achievement, I kept playing it over and over, hence it becoming my very favourite song during the time I was 2 or 3 year old  Apologies to all those who dislike it, I can understand why- its utter crap :D Perhaps I should have attached a warning: TURN OFF YOUR SPEAKERS WHEN WATCHING...

Thanks for that mav... I did get the option of the direct to CPH route on SQ, but given that I am 6'3" and wouldnt look out of place size-wize packing down in an All Blacks scrum, premium economy ranks pretty high up on the list :) Unfortunately, my job rank isnt high enough to qualify for J class.. that's something they reserve for the upper level managers I'm afraid... :( besides, I dont really need the extra frills of business (the drinks are still free in economy ;) )... i just need the room! I really should run my ass round the block a few times... especially if I...
