My Dad told me ages ago there was an f-111 doing low passes at gisborne, And when I say low i mean 2 meters any way it pulled up and also one of the signs got ripped from the ground becuase they are so powerful :thumbup: In the Gulf war its rumored that an F111 brought down a Mig29 by flying too low and kicking up stones into its intake while it was getting chased. IMO the lowest flying I've ever seen is by RNZAF Skyhawk pilots they actually can fly lower than Aussies in NZ.

Wow Naki you back in Tauranga already? I caught a ride in a F-111 and it stopped in Tauranga :D - nahh I stopped at a mates place in South Auckland and logged on while I was there. My first flight was from Christchurch to England, but in 1966 it took a while... Left Christchurch on 29 Dec 1966 on an NAC Viscount ZK-BRF. Flew to Auckland, and then over to Whenuapai the next morning to catch a ride the rest of the way to England by RNZAF Hercules. So, the Herc left Whenuapai on the 30th of Dec 1966 and we went... WHENUAPAI > ALICE SPRINGS (Australia) > CHANGI (Singapore) > ADEN (Yemen, Middle East) > NICOSIA (Cyprus) > LYNEHAM (England) ...arriving in England on the 4th of January 1967!! There were no slip crews, so there were overnight stops all...

Great shots, although I have never flown on one in real life. Bet they have great window views, with no lower wing obstructing your view from a pax seat :P

I get that Wish-I-had-a-camera feeling often. I even saw ZK-TJL (the aeroplane) sitting RIGHT there next to the aero club in Nelson, but alas no camera!!! :angry: :angry:

Yeah, Piper are great at revamping their aircraft so that they look totally different to the model before but look remarkably similar to another type of aircraft.
