So last night there was an "electrical failure" in Brazil which knocked out most of the ATC radar. Bit of a scramble to get everything down in one piece. I'm giving my Brazil trip a miss this year.

QUOTE(Trolly @ Jul 27 2007, 01:12 AM) i live in flat bush, raphoe road, the jest and such fly right over my place on approch, it is quite intresting, most deploy gear as they go over, some after, and there are the odd one or two that have gear and flaps are down before theyu fly over, Small world... my in-laws live on Raphoe Road... and its quite amusing to stand outside, look straight up as a heavy flies directly (and I mean directly) overhead Thought I remembered reading the words Raphoe Road here- there has been loads of parties at my mates house there over the holidays! Hope...

Bit more on the story....... Singapore Airlines have credited my air miles account with 20 000 miles, but the promised refund of the $145 overcharge of the taxes does not seem to have come, what a surprise. As suggested above, I have emailed Fair Go, and I am also contacting some magazines to highlight the practice. Watch this space!! Smooth landings (not on Singapore airways!)

Everyone I know that has flown a 421 swears that the aircraft has tried to kill them on more than one occasion... there is something that isnt so cool about having a wastegate on one turbo, slam and stay fully open, whilst cruising at FL200, rendering that engine useless..... Ahh pheuey thats got nothing to do with the 421 itself. That can happen to any turbo engine. Although, those geared GTSIO-520s are mongrel engines but are on a few other types. I myself havent flown the 421 but have done a bitta time on the old 402 which is more or less the same thing, but not pressureised and not as...

some interesting reading... Lol... the thing has like 1000 temporary plastic fasteners on it holding various bits and pieces together... there was a gap when they joined bits of the fuselage together, its heavier than designed and they still have to put in test flight systems and hundreds of feet of cabling! having said that, it seems pretty popular: Boeing now has orders for 677 787s from 47 customers.

and full catIII starts either later this year or early next. It will be 23L only. I heard that, is that because of international flights having nowhere to go if all the suitable airports are fogged out...? also to what level of cat III ?? and why only 23L ?? sorry for all the qs  Not sure why its only 23L at the moment... It will be CatIIIB :)
