I have a separate 160GB sata drive that is set up just for FSX It contains Win XP x64 and all my FSX I also have the memory set to no page so that you don't get any page swap in the memory. When I want to go flying I do a reboot and change the bios to boot to this drive. I have matrox triple head but haven't quite found the funds yet for the Trackir I have an old Trackir 2 sitting here if anyone is interested in it but Ican't get drivers for it that will work with Win XP x64

QUOTE (munter @ Oct 6 2008, 08:57 AM) Hi! Can somebody tell me where I can get CH rudder pedals in NZ? How do they compare to Saitec? Munter I'll second Ian's recommendation. I've bought gear off Lemonaid (via Trademe) a couple of times. Friendly and efficient. Sadly, none of this stuff is cheap over here. Not worth going 2nd hand - as there's nothing worse than a spiky pot. I have Saitek stick/throttles but CH Pro rudders. The new Saitek rudders spec seems good - they just look a bit like a badly designed Japanese car /winkyy.gif style= vertical-align:middle...

QUOTE (vatsim-aholic @ Oct 9 2008, 02:49 AM) Pato, generally the latest drivers will be the best, but if you still have no joy try XTreme-G 163.76 XP from , if that don't suit your system just roll back the driver, they have many more goodies to try. Im pretty sure your'll find a good one. Many thanks for your suggestions. I will have a look at that site for drivers. It appears that some experimenting is needed to get a suitable driver for a particular setup.

hi, i don't want to dissapoint, but i would check with a computer shop before you put a new quad core in, as i had the M2N32-EH motherboard, and it kept packing up. it turned out that the motherboard could not support the processor. asus had admitted it after i brought two of the boards, the thing that annoyed me the most was that the asus website said they would support the 9850 but would need to flash the bios. but buried about 10 pages deep, there awas a little line that said that this processor was not supported by these boards. even the computer guys said that they were suprised by...

hey mate, couple of things, i have been talking to a few guys around the airport who run FSX, most are runnning the latest and greatest Nvidea cards, and they all wish they had brought a 9xxx or a 8800gtx card, as at the moment these cards are eating the newer nvidia cards for breakfast. and the odd guy how has an ati card is going to upgrade that as it is giving him worse peroformance than a 7800gt card (was one of the newest ATI cards out, it slips my mind what one) As far as processor goes, i can say i am very happy with my AMD phenom 9850 quad core, now i have the right motherboard, i...

You probably just need to re-download it. It sounds like your system wants to automatically open ZIP files from the web, which is probably not what you want. You may be better off saving the file rather than opening it -- how to do this depends on your browser, but on mine I right-click on the link, and choose Save Link As... The file may still be cached on your system, so you should clear your browser cache first to make sure that you actually get a new download.

Hmm..those converters don't work too well on my computer, I bought one a while ago to use with a PS2 wheel, didnt work, tried it with a regular controller and it worked....but not all the buttons would be recognized.

QUOTE (gojozoom @ Sep 5 2008, 01:44 PM) and you could certainly use the freeware SmartClose which can temporary stop unnecessary windows services and other applications, and restore them after you finished flying. It gave me +20% performance !!! Just downloaded and tried this, and it's fantastic! I used to start a flight at 20FPS (locked) and end it at about 10 FPS ~30 mins later, sibnce getting this I've just been flying for 2 hours and still at 20FPS! Thanks Gojozoom!

The fun is only just beginning. FSUIPC has a load of undocumented features which you only learn about by trawling through the support forum. For example the ability to programme a yoke switch to produce a series of keystrokes. As I posted somewhere (can't remember where, may have been here) I have my yoke set up so that it doesn't matter whether I'm in a 747 or a 767 or 727 or a B200 or a DC-3 etc etc etc , switch 1 down will give me the captains panel, switch 2 down will give me the FO panel, switch 3 down will give me the overhead, switch 4 down will give me radios, and so on...

Something in the back of my mind says that if you have multiple levels of clouds then this will have a big effect on frame rates, so perhaps try just a single level of clouds. smooth landings.
