QUOTE (BigBird @ Feb 10 2009, 11:10 AM) For me it loads at the same rate whether I've got all variations showing or not. I've only got around half a dozen payware a/c at the mo though. Recently I went through every aircraft and stripped out all the repaints that I didn't fancy, hoping that would make a difference. It didn't seem to on my machine though. Drat! I have the same problem - and I'm halfway through removing the redundant repaints. I'll set a stopwatch on mine and report back my timings!

QUOTE (Timmo @ Feb 6 2009, 12:55 PM) I would recommend getting a fastish SATA hard drive and installing FSX/Games onto that....they are so cheap now. This won't change frame rates as such but it will cut down on the 'blurries' in scenery. yea. i might do that later on. for now i would just be using the IDE drive but i am intending to make the entire computer upgradable in case things like this do come up

My old PC was able to handle FS9 at a nice 20-30FPS, with addons and the CFG tweaked on medium-high settings. Though, in areas like FlyTampa's Kai Tak the FPS would drop down to 5 or so. It handled PMDG 744/737's well until all the systems were activated, from there the fps dropped about 10 and stuttered a lot. All that had was an AMD 3800+ (?) 2.2ghz dual core, 1gb ram, 250gb harddrive and a 7600gt with 450w PSU (?). That cost me just over $2000 about 3 or 4 years ago. Something like that could be picked up for about $300-400 I'd imagine. The main thing to stay away...

QUOTE (GPSSim @ Jan 17 2009, 09:14 AM) Hi Les, Thank you that information. I had tried to open an account with those guys but their account page only allowed accounts from the US. I presumed from this that they did not sell outside of the US. I took another look at their site and have discovered that they do sell overseas but you have to contact them first. Looks like my problem is solved. Thanks again. Alan Hi Alan, Thats right, with me he quoted me quite a high postage and then came back and said he was able to post by Airmail and cost was much less. Good luck Les

Ah, WidevieW only does outside views. I thought I had found a way around it by using the onboard 64mb nVidia card on PC1, but then FSX says it doesnt have the shader support. So I might just give FS2004 a go, and see how that goes. Thanks for all the suggestions.

QUOTE (toprob @ Nov 25 2008, 11:42 AM) Do you have Kelvin Richardson's Ardmore installed? I'm wondering if this is related to the giant seagulls... Hmmm, I know I installed an Ardmore pack, and then after leaving NZAA toward NZAR, I noticed many seagulls, I was kind of confused /tongue.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :P border= 0 alt= tongue.gif /> This explains it. Thanks!

QUOTE (ZKIWI @ Jan 6 2009, 05:58 AM) I might put the files back one at a time and see which one it was that stopped FSX from loading. My guess is the logbook. Wizard! /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= thumbup1.gif /> load that last flight in your logbook , the flight from the previous night before the crash .
