Do what Mike has suggested. Also grab the latest version of FSUIPC - it has some fix in it for crashing. If still no go, are you using the HDR Enbseries? Delete the d3d9.dll (this is one of the files you place when you install the ENBseries plugin) from the FSX root folder and try again

I'm picking you are using FSUIP. If you read the fine print it uses default MS inputs. Re-enable your default contollers and you should be away. Check out the HueyX page at A/S there is heaps about the problem there....

No money no more - an expensive habit to feed - but seriously you have made a good choice with the 560 - I've used them, and with the speed of a Sandybridge CPU they are damn near as good as a 580, so don't waste money on cards, go for high speed CPU's

Inspector settings will still apply as they are root level nvidia driver settings, the turning off of the Aero theme is purely a windows thing. When you close FSX aero will re launch and windows will be back to normal.

In search today found water textures not complying with user dynamics .. edits create a better ocean texture , follow Marty,s Rail thread .. Ocean was the next to look at and really requires a fix after looking a Ship simulator .

Do SSD drives get slower as they get full up like regular hard drives?

Might want to start by checking the following files are in your FS9/Effects folder. fx_navred fx_navgre fx_strobe (default lighting files from the default Extra 300 for example)
