QUOTE (Adamski @ Oct 24 2012,6:15 PM) Thanks for the extensive post /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= thumbup1.gif /> ... how much would the cheapest (but capable) Eaton one cost? The smallest one useable on a flight sim rig is the 5110 700VA, which maxes out at 420W. Current list price looks to be around $190 incl GST + freight. NZ support is pretty good - Eaton actually has a tech branch IN New Zealand, unlike some of the cheaper brands. Availability can be a bit patchy due to their popularity. Price varies according to whether a store...

QUOTE (dbcunnz @ Oct 30 2012,1:08 AM) Sorry to disagree with you there Ian my advise would be to put your operating system on the SSD reinstall your Flight sim on the other drive. I have two SSD drive one with the windows 7 64 ultimate and the other with the flightsim on and I find that I do not get any better performance with the flight sim on the SSD than I did when I had it on a Weston digital 1000rpm HDD Thanks also for that Ian, the cat is in with the pidgins now which way I should go? As I said to Ian, my concern is the small size of the SSD drive, I keep filling it up with...

INS switches - everything works, put your mouse on the edge of the knob and the cursor will change to a hand, from there you can use the mouse wheel or left/right click to rotate the knob. The DSPL SEL knob has 2 parts so you have an inner knob and an outer knob, 'feel' around with the cursor and you'll find the spots. IFE and Cabin Util switches are the same, you need the cursor to change to a hand then you can left or right click. Pressurization (I'm guessing you mean ones that control the cruise and landing altitudes?) turn the cursor to a hand then left click to decrease,...

QUOTE (scaber @ Oct 16 2012,12:26 AM) Check their forums, it seems to have been causing problems to many users Repaint Wizard Support It does seem to have a 30 day money back guarantee so maybe it's worth the risk - but not for me!! Interesting discussion there - think I, too, will give it a pass.

QUOTE (raddragon @ Oct 9 2012,7:53 AM) Well, I dont have a procedure as such. Just uninstall everything, clean out the registry and hope for the best. Very frustrating though. It worked perfectly fine one day, then fine the next morning, then problem that afternoon. No warning, just loaded it up and the problem appeared. I did also uninstall Virtu MVP (I have a Z77 chipset) as suggested by Emfrat in the earlier post - this may have helped - but I also did a fresh install of the Nvidia Drivers also. With you all the way, reddragon - no way would I reinstall Virtu, just to prove the...

QUOTE (toprob @ Sep 21 2012,10:15 AM) I like FSX shadows, as they give a great rendition of NZ's harsh lighting, but I'm aware that a lot of people don't use them, and they are not compatible with what Orbx call 'texture flow'. I'll admit it, I have shadows on as well... just not cast shadows on self the plane. My Hanger isnt that full of Aircaft. Only been going for just about a year now. So most of the planes I use are quite new and shadows work rather well. Should turn off the crash detection I know but it makes me look before pushback etc. And for the most...

Actually you raise a good point about the flp drops ,as i finished my test flight at 3 am this morning i was getting 29.9 mostly then as i hit certain spots close to maybe a airport the flp spiked down to 1.2 to 14 range then once loaded in view back up to the standard 30 flps . With so many airports in one area the placement and detail level etc has to be done so carefully as they are all within the 50km radius of each other , i may be able to solve most of this when my Auckland stuff comes out

QUOTE (Olderndirt @ Sep 15 2012,4:06 AM) When shopping for a new MOBO/CPU combo, I found that the i5 2500k was a better overclocker than the 3570k but pricewise a bit more. Ended up with the ASUS Z77 board and i5 3570k. Great performance. In what way was it better do you remember? Was it just that the 2500K o/clocked a little higher/safer? (I have seen mentions of the 3570 running a little hotter under o/clock). The 3570K should overclock OK on that Z77 board he's looking at. Lots of articles on the web talking about doing just that with good results. Out of the box the...

QUOTE (deeknow @ Sep 13 2012,12:01 PM) Dazza. Sorry I missed that original post of yours too. If you havent splashed out yet do take the time to read the sticky posts on the avsim hardware forum area, and poke around at the older threads too. Its a real gold-mine of on-topic stuff to consider when looking at components, no matter what the budget... Good luck, is a fun process huh. hey guys thanks for the replies. yea Ive been reading heaps and on youtube the main thing now i'm stuck on is should i get a I5 3570K or try and find a I5 2400K CPU. But they are getting harder to find...

Found the problem. It seems that the Ultimate Terrain X was causing the conflict. I did a complete re-install and then slowly added things back until the problem happened. I didn't realise that the default flight was actually a harbour.. Thought the name of it was strange since no water was showing...lol. Thank you all for your help Craig (nz401)

QUOTE (knoxy @ Sep 2 2012,5:29 PM) Scenery.CFG file error. Local Scenery\SCENERY in scenery area 115 not found. Click OK to continue. Has this error only recently popped since the install of the Orbx SI/NI ? QUOTE (knoxy @ Sep 2 2012,5:29 PM) Also-anyone know how to turn the ATIS off in FSX? You can simply turn this off by changing channels on your radio or press the key above the 'TAB' key for radio and request flight following or tune .
