I have always looked for a good graphics card, not a cooling system with graphics capability. Really, if you need a computer to show you the difference between one card and another, you are not likely to spot it with the old Mk1 human eyeball. That said, my usual source for that kind of thing is here: and they are offering the 2060 range of cards with lots of dollars off. Right now though, I think a large capacity SSD (or two) would be of more use to me. Whatever I get will be superseded in three months and obsolete in six :o ATB Mike

In my experience some addons "require" a setting of 2048. I haven't experienced any FPS drop with it.

Thanks DashCap ...not so much the new sim, I think that will make everybody a screenshot genius....more for some of the other sims I use like IL-2 and DCS. At the moment I'm having trouble just running P3DV4.5 , and DCS is just a slide show ...1 frame every 60 seconds  very frustrating indeed. I still have some wriggle room as far as money is concerned, but due to real-life commitments ....sick cars etc , I've set a limit of $2000.

I was reading through the AVSIM forums a few days ago and it was mentioned there. LM have approached AMD for a fix. I guess once AMD has checked that Goat simulator is working ok they may look at P3D :D

Yeah I'm also holding off until we see some h/w specs and some real world users of MS 2020 giving it a flogging with add-ons (as and when they release) Don't panic Terry :) (PS your current spec looks good, compared to my old wreck anyway)

Well found... I see it's only on flightsim.com not on AVSIM, must've fallen foul of their server meltdown, years ago. I miss FS2004 deeply.

Well done Marty - I am an AFS2 DVD person, so I don't have Steam ( or anyone else) dictating what I should have on my machine.

Sorry, been away on work missions for quite a while. Well, I lit up my X-Plane a few days ago. Without having adjusted anything, I found that my aircraft are performing normally. No screwing left on taxiing. I simply can't explain this. Long may this last, though I don't expect it too. I'll be back when I'm circling on the throttle again.

Not sure how they do their installers, but in a case like this you need to make sure that you extract the zip file first, rather than running the installer from the zip file.

And of course, there's VR. Although many reports I've read say the Oculus Rift is too bulky to wear for more than about 45 minutes. There's also the issue that you really are commited to living entirely in a virtual cockpit, rather than being able to combine real controls, switches and gauges with a virtual display. Only the above. You can find my thoughts on VR and P3D in these forums by searching for Vive Pro. It was a few months ago and I hired one for a week. There are newer headsets coming that have much better resolution (like the VR-1) but they are probably a couple+ years from...
