I was thinking along those lines, Greg, but I see a couple of fine lines too, and I don't use DX10. Somewhere at the back of my mind (way at the back, amongst the cobwebs) is that this was tweaked in a SP.

Well, no excuse now not to try Prepar3D, once you get FSX singing the way you want.

Google Earth will still be going strong, the API is the bit which allows people to embed maps in web pages, and develop map applications for the web. That is good to know , I don't use it for the sim mode .

... Given the time that has passed since its release, I see no reason why such legacy addons couldn't be entered into the public domain given the limited profitability available from it. Regards, Mat While I agree with this, and I do try and review the licensing of my older addons, in this case I think there was a quite complicated ownership, in that the licensing wasn't Christian's, so I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed unresolved.

John , be great to keep it an open topic/wound in the case this rears it head for another who may have a similar issue. :) Or maybe a Mod could move it to the "Tips and Tricks" thread...... :P Yes Indeedo ! but rather move the thread , create a locked how to fix and for OS or required combination and what to look for.

Sorry, I'm as good with follow-ups as our friend Marty :) So I got the solution last weekend from a fellow simmer in Europe. My suspicion was correct, I just had to "turn off" a bgl file (rename it to .OFF), namely this one: FTX_NZNI_objects_plc_POI_2.bgl. Dan

I heard about this Saitek XTOP Pro Flight Panel, I thought this would be awesome but far out $2000 NZD for a dash board. I thought it came with the gear in that price but nope. Not that I would but cheaper to buy a old real aircraft dash heading for the dump and then get the tools out. But your right I am happy just with the Yoke and pedals and the rest can be done on the sim. If the sims all the cockpits worked 100 % A bit gutting when not all the controls work. By the way has anyone know how to fix the radio tower planted right on the strip at Wanganui

I'm curious about your stated CPU loads. When you say 70% how is that load spread across your cores? You might have one core pegged 100% and the others mostly idle - which is what you'd expect from FSX being largely single threaded - and it could well report a *total* CPU loading of say "60%".

Hey yah! I've got a MBPR that I sometimes run FSX on. Specs are: Mid 2014 MacBook Pro Retina CPU: i7 2.4Ghz RAM: 8GB GPU: nVidia GTX 650M 1GB RAM I think it runs quite nice, not too bad. Especially at the Retina resolution of 2880x1800.. I get about 15FPS to 20FPS maybe? I can't remember, it's been a month, now Also FSX is installed onto a USB3.0 500GB SATA drive because I only got 256GB SSD. Addons used are: PMDG777 FlyTampa St Maarten Orbx Global Orbx NI/SI/AU/ENG/SCO/IRE/NIR REX4+Soft CLouds ASN P.S. I also run P3D on it as well and get similar performance.

Yes, it runs fine as long as you don't install it in the default folder (install in the root directory - eg C:\FSX ) . Even if you do install it in the default place quite a few things will still work but eventually you will have problems as you add more complex aircraft and/or scenery. I've been running in Windows 8.1 ever since 8.1 came out and have found it to be much more stable than it ever was with XP or even win 7 (which was pretty good.)
