I'm running a 3yr old P4 3.0GHz, 1GB, 6900GS (256MB) and it runs ok if you turn all the autogen off, run at minimum resolution and medium low settings we're all hoping service pack 1 will lower the bar in terms of performance requirments, so it's a bit wait and see at the moment Hmm thats the same setting as mine and mine runs fine but on half the specs.... interesting

With the system in your signature you have a serious cooling issue. Youd think so wouldnt you?... Im running the stock CPU cooler, and it never goes past 60'c (65 is their "uncomfortable" point), and the video card using a Vantec cooler never gets above 50'c. The RAM is some kind of fancy stuff with heatsinks on it anyway ;) Also, you may rememebr my case cooling mod by sticking 2 80mm fans blowing over the cpu and video card... that did my old ICute beige case wonders

Hey everyone, Just wanted to get someones advice on the Lakes Fix 2002. I have installed for FS9, and have it sitting just above the NZ Topo in the scenery library priority. I noticed especially this morning flying around Milford Sound, that a lot of the hills have water rising up them, and flying into Milford Sound from the Southwest the Lake looks like it's sitting on a big sorta hill, sorry best description I can give. Is this Lakes fix necessary for Flight Sim 2004, and if so does anyone else strike this problem? Thx in advance, Chris................ If you have the RedBaron NZ Topo...

Yes, well I blew out your budget a bit. That lot will probably cost you $2000 without the RAID hard drives - but you will have a smokin' hot system. Sorry, I'm not very good with money when it comes to computers. Try for pricing. By the way, that 2GB of RAM should be purchased as a 2x1GB dual channel memory kit. Something like the Kingston Hyper-X DDR2-800 5-5-5 dual channel kit (probably get a bit of overclock out of that).

I'm sure most joysticks wouldn't survive that. It must be made of the same plastic as my old Genius F23. The steel x-axis tension spring snapped while the little plastic lugs it was hooked onto remained intact! :( :(

I suggest custom build as it saves a lot of money. I had to upgrade my motherboard and cpu and video card, so a whole rebuild. not very hard to do. just put in the right spot and push in. The instruction might not be helpful but internet is helpful. So go cusom build and get an even better machine.(or donate it all to me :D ) With that money you should get...... Video card GeForce 8800gts/x Gaming for the future. Direct 10 games will begin being released and you will probably want to play them. CPU Core 2 duo (any depending on prices) RAM 2 or more giggs of DDR2. C2D and AM2 cpu's have a...

heh, didn't know that was possible. (upgraded foolishly from WIN 3.11 for workgroups, best operating system in the last 10 years) um.... don't mean to be pedantic, but 3.11 was released in 1993, making it almost 14 years old. mind you, i preferred DOS for its gaming capabilities (and its command line interface)

Nik, that has happened to me a few times before too. The only way I could fix it was by saving my flight, ending the flight, then resuming it. Also, on long haul flights where I sometimes leave the computer to go and have a snack or something, then return to find ATC has cancelled my IFR plan for not responding to an instruction, I simply just open a new flight plan via the ATC box, and request new IFR clearence in mid air :)
