Hey there. Have a read through this Uploading Images Guide first of all. I'm guessing your images are bitmaps (.BMP), if so, then this should help you: 4) Make sure your image is a .JPEG. If "Screen Hunter" saved your image as a .BMP, right click on the selected image thumbnail, and click edit. This will open "MS PAINT". Now open the File menu, and click save as, changing the extension to JPEG.

Panda active scan is an online tool to help detect viruses on your machine, it comes in handy even if you just suspect your machine is acting a little weird. I have used it a few times and it will find anything that can harm your machine. You scan your machine using an online scanner. Housecall is another handy utillity for these type of issues. Has worked for me in the past, although some items still need to be removed by hand. There are plenty of tutorials on the internet on how to do this. Hope this is of use. Robert

FS9 should run in Full Screen mode with no problems at all - you can find the option under the 'View' menu while in flight. /winkyy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= ;) border= 0 alt= winkyy.gif /> Alex

That is good to hear....placed my order on Friday yay! Although, i dont really understand why they are so expensive.....surely if racing wheels and pedals can be released for a decent price then flightsim peripherals can be the same? I might just be a 'economies of scale' thing but flightsim hardware does seem expensive.... It would be good if MS released a new series of Sidewinder stuff.....it was well priced, well made, durable etc...

QUOTE(HardCorePawn @ Sep 18 2007, 08:24 AM) I just hope you can find some decent drivers! My experiment with Vista64 lasted less than a day... Dodgy video (nVidia) drivers... nothing for sound, mobo etc... I may have to revisit soon, so I can use all 4gigs of RAM properly... Also, do they have a 64bit executable for FS9 and or FSX? No prob with Nvidia , Creative Sound Blaster drivers. Found Joystick and Headset drivers last night on internet. FSX is totally Vista compliant. Now i just have to wait for Squawk Box to put out a FSX version.

It'll probably be a fairly close thing... but I think the desktop will still win out... mainly because I'm not sure if the 128meg laptop video is going to be able to keep up with the 7600... even if it is only a GS model... Also, I'll assume your desktop has a 7200rpm HDD, the laptop is likely to only be 5400rpm... but if the laptop is a SATA model and desktop is IDE, it may even itself out... The CPU in the laptop is likely faster (despite lower speed rating), but as FSX is not optimised for multicores, the difference may not be as large as the specs would suggest...

if you will never use the battery, you can always just leave the battery in there, but turn off the battery switch. This will completely shut off the battery from the rest of the laptop. Im not sure if all laptops have them, but two Asus laptops i have seen have got them. Also, if you want to make the battery last longer, I found you should use the battery every now and then. Say you have a little bit of light office type work or internet surfing to do. Just unplug the power and run it off the battery. Run the battery down to nearly flat and then charge it up again. I found this seems to keep...

QUOTE(kimz28 @ Sep 18 2007, 09:03 PM) As Creator2003 said, the other thing is the newest drivers are also optimised for the latest big game release as well, notice each time a big game comes out (last one was Bioshock, which I handle the techsupport for here in NZ) both nVidia and ATI release drivers that have been tweaked to suit this game. I usually update, as the drivers are released (don't touch the beta drivers myself) as I usually have a good play with the newer titles that come out. I read a post in Avsim from a chap who had a similar card and problem to mine. He tried...

32bit OS's can only address 4gigs of address space ... due to memory mapped devices (ie. DMA mode on HardDrives, Optical Drives, Video Cards etc) sucking up address space... the amount of physical RAM that can be addressed will usually be somewhere between 3gigs and 4... (for the record I think my machine sits around 3.5gigs... 4gigs RAM, +256meg video card, 2 HDD's and DVD-RW) MS did put out a patch post-"XP SP1", that worked some magic and allowed addressing higher than 4gigs... but due to some poorly written drivers not working too well with this system when loaded above...

Do you have EditVoicepack installed? If so maybe check here for double ups. They will appear in Red. You can then drill down by double clicking on an error. It will say something like duplicate exists.

QUOTE(brownbox @ Sep 1 2007, 08:44 PM) Just wondering, which one would win? An 8600GT running DX9 on Windows XP Or, an 8600Gt running DX10 on Vista. Both running FSX. I havnt got around to trying yet /winkyy.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= ;) border= 0 alt= winkyy.gif /> you haven't tried it maybe because FSX doesn't use DX10 yet? In any event, Vista itself is going to suck some performance out of any application due to its higher resource use. but from what I understand, FSX post SP2 is faster under DX10 than under DX9 before adding the fancy DX10 effects.
