Strange ... I've always used Thunderbird (love it!) - over many iterations of Windows without getting your problems (phew!). Rufus is amazing: I've used it to update a few of my old "hardware incompatible" laptops and they run (and update) fine. Having said that, one of my sacrificial old laptops is going to be the next attempt at Cinnamon Mint. I gave up before as I simply could not get it to recognise any of my printers after endless hours of console work. I think that Linux isn't that different to Windows: when it works, it's great - but when it only half works it's a nightmare....

Disregard the post as it’s back to CTDs. It's been interesting observing pilots on Vatspy disappearing from the screens when they encounter the "Marlborough triangle" and disappear. I think that I may have sorted the issue. I used Corsten's cache removal tool (in the UI mode) and selected items 1 to 6 in the list. I had done this previously (after a new GPU driver release and after the update) However I did not use item 6 ...clearing the scenery index. Since doing this I have successfully spawned and flown at NZNS and completed a NZWN to NZCH flight that caused CTDs...

I'm afraid there is not a tidy solution... In my Steam install, the MSFS 2020 joystick controller profile is stored here: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\424538193\1250410\remote\ inputprofile_0637663488 There are profiles for keyboard and mouse in the same folder. I have copied and saved these in a desktop folder called, well I can't tell you, because the forum software won't allow the language usage. These can be opened with Notebook, the contents for my joystick are as below. Turns out the quickest way to change this is to overwrite everything below the first four highlighted lines,...

Add-ons like AIG can put a huge performance hit on airports such as LAX, but you have to try and be sensible and tone down the settings on traffic (framerates can drop to 20-25fps at LAX). Although nice to see it in action, dealing with a busy airports with 50-100 flights all moving about (on the ground and in the sky) is a bit of a nightmare if all you want to do is fly. And, I don't want to spent 30 minutes plus, waiting to take off. Less busy airports like Auckland and Wellington don't suffer from that problem. I haven't invested in any add-on aircraft for MSFS yet (but I did have a lot of...

Well, I gave FSLTL traffic a go using the Navigraph live feed and all worked ok. There must be something wrong with those particular AIG models. Quite possibly (AIG). Glad you found the problem!

Thanks mate, be interested to see a screenshot of that "blocked" thing you saw, wondering if its something at your ISP or somewhere between you and the NZFF server :@ Sorry mate, didn't take one. It was a graphic showing three stages of my attempt to reach NZFF. My end of things was OK, so was the middle bit and the third box said bitninjas were having trouble "reaching the backend server" and would retry in 10 secs and it seemed to sit in a loop of that. If I got into NZFF, I could get to, say, the screenshot forum but when I tried to move to, say, the Community...

Sorry to read of your frustration Doug. I sympathise with your frustration. I'm not sure of the context of the Xbox issue, as you are using a PC, other than it could be something to do with your Xbox account username which is used during installation. To have those errors so early in the process seems to suggest some sort of user account/verification issue, although having said that I would have thought that this is something that Microslops could have remedied during your contact with them. Maybe the local computer repair shop could take a look at it. Dazzle them with that Supergold card...

You might want to try out Tiny Windows 11 then. I'm actually quite happy with Win11 on both my work laptop and sim PC. Neither have missed a beat. I have an older laptop - currently running Linux Mint (Ubuntu), which behaves 90% of the time but installing a new(er) Wi-Fi printer was a bit of a mission. I wish I'd seen the video in your link before!!!
