QUOTE Andrew - How long ago did you visit Duxford? QUOTE Awesome to see they've got an indoor hanger display for British Aviation at Duxford Must have been 8 or 9 years ago now, but I still remember that the first main hanger featured the history of British Aviation with the Concorde, Lancaster and Vulcan bomber. Another great RAF museum worth visiting is RAF Hendon in North London which has a English Electric Lightning and one of the only TSR-2's in existance amongst it's collection.

Yes the weather cleared nicely and luckily the wind died away, the morning was pretty shocking. I flew to Blenheim with Air2there at 5.50pm on Friday and it was a smooth flight. Not sure what it will be like flying back over to Welly at 6pm tonight though! Twas a howling gale here in Blenheim last night. I have been working in Wellington for 11 months now and flying over and back every week. Only ever had one flight cancelled and one divert to Paraparaumu rather than Wellington, so all in all its a pretty good strike rate. Deane

QUOTE (slopit12 @ May 11 2009, 05:08 PM) Interesting Photos! The fourth photo down, of the bluebird taxing back, you can see the thrust reverses still open (I'm guessing at idle though). I wonder why that is? Probably was speeding on the back track and needed to slow quickly, was there another aircraft on approach??

The WW1 stuff is alway impressive. Jerry throwing the Fokker DVII around REALLY low and close to the crowd was awesome to watch. The RE8 was special just to see the thing get in the air. 7 Fokker DR1s? Never seen since the great war. The WW1 stuff is saving airshows for me at the moment. QUOTE (Bazza @ May 6 2009, 09:01 AM) As an example, for many years I have collected scale 1:18 roadster cars, Aston Martins, Bugatti's, early SS Jaguars, Mercedes Benz, Alfa Romeo etc, the golden age of motoring. My grandsons, whom at one stage I thought I'd leave them to, wonder where are...

QUOTE (Albatross @ Apr 25 2009, 11:19 PM) Very nice /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> Is it hard to get up in the tower for a visit? I'm visiting for a few hours in Sept, and thought about trying to arrange a visit.. Not to sure, being in the industry I was able to arrange it on the radio as I flew in that day. Otherwise I guess you could try telephoning beforehand to see if its ok. They are often training there, so not always easy to arrange

QUOTE (Trolly @ Apr 26 2009, 12:10 PM) Masterton seems to put on show after show- this is the 3rd one this year if I'm not mistaken? How much do they charge for entry fees, and how many people turn up? Would have loved to be down there to see and hear those WW1 types- thanks heaps for posting the photos! First WWI one was for Remembrance Day, on the 11th of November. Then we had Wings over Wairarapa, and then the Anzac display. Coming up is a small display in may for the Ag-Aviation Reunion. And then the next TVAL display in November. She's all go. Some great sounding...

Amazing shot- I know how hard it is to hold you head up during inverted flight, let alone your camera and manage to take a decent shot while you're at it. Cheers for posting /thumbup1.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= thumbup1.gif />

Nope, Crescos also being refitted. The structure of the new mod is entirely different to PAC factory spec.

QUOTE (FlyingKiwi @ Apr 17 2009, 07:00 PM) With DSLRs in general, the lens will often make as much, if not even more difference than the camera itself. extra 2mp is not that important as sharp for example on 300mm(compare 70-300is and 100-400is). The only main things about bodies-increasing noise(thats depends how you use your camera)
