Paul , I hate the Ice .. cold ... but 'Operation Deep Freeze', is more the connection with the wicked aircraft , this dates back with my memory with LC-47, C-124s, C-121J , C-141 and the Herc , and Galaxy and a few others .. missed many others but the first six were regulars in my eyeballs.

Something that's interesting for the evolution type of person is the tail bumpers. Look at the 767 and the 777, they both have tail bumpers yet the 787 doesn't, quite possibly due to the advances in FBW technology. (Yes I know the 767 isn't FBW) Also the Airbus fleet doesn't again due to the benefit's(?) of their software.

Yeah I got caught out until corrected by Lucky Lindy , had it been a Warplane easy .. they build these aircraft and all appear to look the same .. maybe if I get a ride in one before I give it the WOW factor :D
