I get that but worse. Thats why im getting a new rig. I seem to get it when fling into airports with large files etc and my comp cannot keep up. If I pause and wait it finally all sorts its self out but once move on a few miles it happens again. was flying into EGBB the other night after 6hrs from the US and on approach at 4 miles still had no airport textures etc, no recognisable terrain features etc. On rollout all appeared and was sweet. Thats my 2 cents anyway. Cheers, Adrian.

I think this is perhaps a mission too far. I'm having major problems with a lot of the airports now. Mainly issues with terrain. Most airports are not flat and appear to be in a slightly different location to FS9... either that or the mesh is more detailed in FSX. Creating a flatten in ADE only flattens the land under the runways and taxiways so I get massive cliff faces all around and in the airport! Also got tree and bush textures that have strange transparency issues. Reading up it seems that converting is far more difficult than just starting from scratch /sad.gif style=...

There are some areas that are high resolution (under, say 1m GSD) avaliable- Whale Island and the areas around some of Robins airports (both payware RealNZ and freeware Godzone) But yes, generally, aerials that are available at prices and conditions that are realistic for simmers are generally older aerials. Older aerials were usually scanned at a resolution that made the digital copies able to be stored and distributed on the computers of the day (i.e. fairly low).....A gigabyte was a huge amount of data ten years ago!

QUOTE (2fst4u @ May 10 2010, 01:18 PM) 15? I get 7-8 over Realnz wellington /sad.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :( border= 0 alt= sad.gif /> A new computer may be in order Yeah, I just can't stand slow framerates. Surely flying is fun for the sense of freedom, grace and smoothness when moving in the air. I would never sacrifice that for some good scenery. FSX runs smooth with default settings (no FTX), so I'm looking forward to the VLC. I might see if I can get some of the bazillion airports I have is FS9 converted.

well i have installed the airport, done a quick flight around the airport (had to do a complete format and reinstall, after the damn ariane 737 removed alot of critical fsx files when i removed it, appears it doesn't live windows 7 much, another story) i only flew the trike around with no traffic (installing UT2 as we speak) i have my frames locked at 35, with all options ticked in the control panel, max density with scenety objects, and normal autogen denisity i was dropping to between 15-20fps, which given that i struggle to get 25-30 frames with the default airport, espically looking...

Yes you will need a program like that for fs9 or a payware placement program called "Ezscenery " in fsx when you upgrade there are all those tools with the deluxe version ... from memory rwy12 was the best freeware way of placing objects made for rwy12 in fs9

QUOTE (mattyHamNZ @ Apr 12 2010, 05:46 PM) Nope, but the SDK BGL compiler is just as easy. It is located in your SDK directory...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK\BglComp.exe Drag your scenery file created from the OBJ placement tool from where ever you have them saved onto the "BglComp.exe". A BGL file of the same name as the scenery file will be created next to it ready for input into your scenery folder. :-) Oh really? Sweet. I'll do this, I was under the impression you needed a tool. Ok, solved the problem. ArcMap exported 16bit Tifs that were showing black for some reason. Exporting 8bit seems to work fine. Weird.

You should 'run' the installers -- there is really no reason I can think of for putting the installer exes into the sim folder. However it may or may not help. Does the CD come with install instructions? Windows has a number of built-in safeguards to prevent messing up program installations, and I think this is what you are seeing here. Basically anything in the 'Program Files' folder is included in this protection, and for good reason. That's one of the reasons why some users like to install FS outside of the Program Files folder, though. Failing that, there are a lot of...
