As Eddy states, VLC uses technology and references that only work in FSX so won't work in FS9- If you want something similar than the Red Baron stuff is your best bet. In saying that, if you have fairly modern hardware then the difference in price between the Red Baron package ($100) and the VLC package ($65) will get you a copy of FSX off trademe if you spend some time looking /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> Cheers

QUOTE (toprob @ Apr 10 2011,12:20 PM) At less than half price (ignoring the Buy Now of course) it would be a great deal for FS2004. Sorry didn't think of FS2004 Maybe I should dust my old copy off. /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif />

QUOTE (Timmo @ Apr 7 2011,2:02 AM) Thanks lawrie /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> just a point however, the Chatham islands scenery is free to all and you don't need vlc to use it:) Sorry Timmo,......... the install doc was from an empty template i made up for my sceneries within the North and South Islands of NZ that are covered by the VLC payware. I simply forgot to remove the words " (payware)" in a couple of places first, before i filled the Chathams install details,............. Duhhhh,....... i must be getting...

Another interesting thing I've read lately relates to X-plane -- hopefully this isn't a hijack, but Tim opened the door by mentioning X-plane... There's a preview of X-plane 10 on Avsim this week. There they talk about another way of laying the scenery down, a completely different approach from FSX. "We will build every city in X-Plane from the first blades of grass upwards." Sounds great, it will be interesting to see it implemented. The shelter-belts are a bit of a catch-22 -- without them, you would have no reason to even fly down to see them, but because they do...

QUOTE (Rotordude @ Apr 1 2011,2:28 AM) If all goes to the letter and the backup files were original you will be see'ing VLC as created and you GEX textures for the rest of the world. Good luck /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif /> Thanks - here we go. Oops - didn't get past the second entry. Got the gong and something about a bad Windows32 DLL entry. Other than changing the FSX drive to D:\, everything looked right.

QUOTE (connor @ Mar 17 2011,9:57 AM) I'm confused, why do I need an aerial pic? /unsure.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= border= 0 alt= unsure.gif /> With the town nearby the aero club may have an image , even b/w you can scan and place , autogen it and would be perfect .

QUOTE (Adamski @ Feb 6 2011, 04:57 PM) I seem to remember a few ... though a quick search found this one www.ianpsdarkcorner.co.uk ... which I've not seen before looks pretty good. Keep a look out in the A2A forums ... I expect it'll be a common request. Yep Ian P's stuff seems pretty good in fact - though I've had one or two minor texture issues with his Hornchurch release... I was directed to his site by some peeps at A2A as well, and Ian in fact hangs out there too...

QUOTE (toprob @ Feb 20 2011, 09:54 PM) There is no download at the moment -- as you've discovered, the temporary site I've been using to host my freeware is no longer available. I do intend to re-upload to Avsim, but there is an issue with the file size at the moment. Thanks toprob Will keep an eye out. Cheers Brendan

Do you think that animation was being applied to the user's aircraft or a static Ai? This just throws FSX on a whole new platform if this is for user aircraft as well!

Aha, found the problem, the exclusion zone was hiding about 5km's away from the airport. I deleted it and it works all good now. Thanks for the help! /smile.gif style= vertical-align:middle emoid= :) border= 0 alt= smile.gif />

QUOTE (crazy @ Jan 24 2011, 07:57 AM) ok, thanks. I'm having a hell of a time trying to add chchx to my scenery. I've googled it and it looks like a lot of people are having the same problems with windows 7. But, even following their instructions word for word won't allow me to add it. I'm reinstalling the whole thing now to see what I can come up with... I think I know what you mean. This is the "FSX won't let you add an area because it keeps on browsing down to a deeper folder on Windows 7" issue? I ran into that, it's pretty much a question of...
