Hi Dazza, I'll do my best to give you a quick run-down, although I'm no expert. ;) AFCAD's were originally made for AI traffic to run on - taxiways and places to park etc. However people quickly found that they were a relatively easy way to improve the look and feel (as well as accuracy) of airports in the Flight Sim. How do you mean how do you use them? Do you want to create AFCAD's, create custom AI traffic routes or more? ;) To install AFCAD's into your Flight Simulator, copy the AFCAD file into the Addon Scenery>scenery folder in the root FS9 directory. ;) Alex

Well that was the wierd thing- It compiled fine and said it had added one poly (i.e. the flatten) but still didnt show. That seems to indicate the resampler is only really reporting errors in the shapefile, not the xml. While ive got you here Christian- Can you tell me the height of this location on the payware mesh? -37.855371 176.974803 That location is basically at the summit of Whale island- There is a small wooden heli pad up there which id like to add to the photoreal scenery but it would need a flatten since its on a slight slope. The default mesh gives and elevation of 320 ft (?)- I...

Wow..Lawrie...Kidnappers has certainly come a long way. You've done it with taste, too. I was expecting a Disneyworld-type layout...but this all blends in well with the locality. Goff Thanks Goff. I did think about something a little more elaborate, but decided it would be a little too much out of place. Still quite a few more details to add, but its getting there slowly but surely. Glad you like it :) Thanks for a good base scenery to start from  Lawrie. >nzflag<

Hi everyone. Just browsing through some old posts and wondering where this idea has got to so far. I would love to learn scenery design but really can't spare the time it would take to learn! My one goal though is to put my house in the Welly scenery and maybe the surrounding neighbourhood. I think I have the tools required. Looking forward to Robin's updated tutorials though. Good luck guys, Paul

I would like to try making a retro NZWN ... Wellington Airport before the new terminal was built (pre 1998 I think) Funny how the mind plays tricks. I see the term "retro" and go "woohoo"; then you go and spoil it all by giving a date that's just 9 years in the past. If it's Rongotai, pre-Labour Day 1959 ... now that's retro. ;) Will see what I can dig up.

Today I saw a screenshot of a new AFCAD-look-alike program, but for FSX. It'll make XML-files and then using a program called XML2BGL.exe then convert them to BGL files, ready to use i FSX. Screenshot can be found here: This is brilliant news and exactly what we were looking for. Anyone working with the beta yet?

Its tricky to do en-route navaids or fixes because they are embedded in the scenery files. An idea might be to download the Airspace update from ;) . Alex
