Amazing! What a wounderful sim you have Jon. I was a real FSX cynic, but your screenshots are so much more beautiful than anything FS2004 could create, than I am starting to fall for the new sim Yes but on systems like ours there not a hope of haveing the same fps/visuals like in fs9... Keep up the good screenies jon, Very enjoyabe indeed :P

Performance issues aside, this sim is way ahead of it's time. It's just been released a bit prematurely.Inspiring pics.

I installed the SDK I ...think hehe It seemed rather complex so I though itd just give it up for now. I am enjoying the fsx missions thow, some of them I cant do for fps reasons but others work fine with all settings down, I even landed a heli on a moving boat! like a moving tiny helipd O I was so pleased :P With the mission creating can do everything like add sounds just like in the defuatl missions? all the neat stuff like realistic atc interaction and cabin calls... Yes Jimmy, you can do anything and everything. I've been playing and got half way through a 'fly to the...

the only good thing fsx has over fs9 is that your head bobs up and down when you move! :D that's such a pain! whenever you're banking or decelerating, you can't use the autopilot!

thanks a lot for this. :D i was just trying to land the A321 at milford, except the NZMF platform causes the aircraft to automatically hit the TOGA on approach (which doesn't have an override?).

A few thoughts on FSX with FS9 aircraft If you try these use a back up copy of the aircraft. TEXTURES FSX uses a different type of texture ***.dds files. There are some good freeware programs to use . DDS converter 2 is exelent, DXTBmp and piant.net all freeware programs. method Open the texture with DXTBmp. save as ***.BMP Edit with paint.net ie add alpha chanels etc. see the help in paint.net if you use it. Flip the whole image verticaly save as ***.tga I no not why the need to flip. Use DDS converter to save in .dds format Load the new aircraft into the planes folder with the ***.dds file...

Something iv noticed is FSX seems to focus so much more on vfr flying. Look at all the screenies during the install of fsx for example, only very few actuly are of jets... MS have put so much effort into the trees and terrain mesh, what have they done for those who like to sit at FL350? I havent noticed any improvments really, the airbridge doesnt even work  James Check your settings for the animation Jimmy, I'm a heavy flyer as well, the new VC's, improved 2D panels etc have made me a happy chappy for the time being at FL350 :P Try flying at dawn and dusk, you cant beat...

I have just installed and tested GNZLAP3 with FSX. 1st thing I found was a error with the Aircraft regarding mulitple objects with the same name, the Afcad's seem to be fine at some airports and all over the place at other's (NZPP has elevation problems, NZWN seems fine) the AI aircraft seem to be where they should be as well. I have all sorts of Afcads including a couple of my own which seem to work with no problems (no conflicting afcads) though I've read there are some differences with the way FSX handles Afcads. I am using FSX with all of the Real NZ scenery's and the 20m...

I went for a blast yesterday night....it certainly adds another dimension to virtual flying :) I was only on dialup...which was 'sufficient' but you did get some pretty erratic behaviour when other players positions caught up with themselves (i.e. a jet ranger flying past at about 400 kts to catch up to its actual position) I was just using the default FSX multiplayer server (though gamespy).....had a blast around Queenstown and saw some familar names flying around. Here is a question: How do you talk to ATC if you dont have a mike???? When in multiplayer mode the usual ATC options...

hmm that is assuming people have the 20m mesh installed....Is it possible to just use the landclass files? Actually, as an aside: Does anyone know what the default mesh is in FSX? It looks pretty good! I havent put the 75m mesh in to compare (that is the only one i have) but it looks at least as good as that....

I once tried copying the texture file from the demo over to fs9, and has some rather 'interesting' results. Everything was really brightly coloured, the sea was yellow, the sky was red, and the grass was blue! After a few minutes, the sim froze up and shut down. I think the textures are a different format or bit depth- you may need to convert the texures before replacing them, as the straight copy and paste didn't work for me!

i've got a similar setup except with a 3.0GHz P4 and 1GB of memory. it's always the autogen that kills frame rates. if you turn it off then you should be able to hit 25 with most of the settings on medium-high. i'm not sure how much of performance is constrained by the graphics card. i wouldn't worry about it, just do it :D

On AVSIM's home page, click on the "Flightsim TV" link for an FSX walk through interview with Microsoft's Shawn Firminger about the latest version of FS. Shawn is the manager of Aces Studio, and ends the clip showing a rendering of what FSX might look like with DX10. You have to feel sorry for the guy, their team produced the goods on time, but the VISTA guys dropped the ball. There must have been some fairly hard words on the MS campus. You need a graphics cards capable of DX10 as well and the first one of those has only just come out so will be horribly expensive.
